  • Unable to reconnect but can spectate ?!

I've been experiencing this problem for quite sometime now and i've read somewhere in this forum that a few people are having the similar problem but am not sure if it is exactly the same as mine.
so the thing is, whenever i got disconnected from a game, most of the time i can't seem to reconnect, but somehow i can still spectate the same game.

i admit i may not have the best internet connection compared to most of you guys but i gotta say my internet connection can pretty much handle HoN back in the days when i used to play the game and didn't have any reconnection problem.

every time i tried to reconnect back into the game, it ended up showing this http://i.imgur.com/NpHth.jpg
in a few rare times where after trying to reconnect for like 5 to 6 times, or after i restarted steam and dota 2, I've somehow managed to reconnect back into the game (this happen very very rarely) but most of the time, the game wouldn't let me.

this have lead me to be in the low priority queue for a few times now and have been preventing me from continuing to play dota 2

if anyone in this forum have any fix on this, i would appreciate it if you could share it with me.

if the devs could just give a brief explanation about this, it would be even better.
    thanks in advance.

I've got the same problem with my current provider/hardware.
Every time my router gets disconnected from the internet i have to restart applications like teamspeak3 before they can reconnect.
After such a disconnect i can't reconnect to the game but spectate it.
It doesn't matter how i'm connected to my DSL router.
With the same PC it works with a different provider+router.
It would be nice to know some technical background information for troubleshooting.
Of course I'll give a feedback as soon as I have enough information on this.
Are the server and server address used to spectate games different from the reconnect server?
Does Dota2 try to resolve a name on reconnect or does it use an IP-Address?

quite an old thread but i've found a solution
after you get disconnected, close dota2, open your game library, right click on dota2, properties, start options, add +clientport 27018 to the line or remove it.
you can use any other allowed port, but important is that you change it after a disconnect.
