  • Is unit response delay dealt with in Valve's eyes?

I KNOW there are other threads about the delay, I am not writing this to make anyone aware of the delay. This thread is to ask Zoid or whoever is responsible whether or not they feel the unit response delay has been sufficiently rectified, or can we expect more fixes in this regard? Because the delay is still clearly in effect. I am aware that some patches ago tweaks were made that were supposed to rectify the issue, but from what I can tell from my own experience as well as others' posts/in game chat/posts on other forums nothing much has changed in terms of unit responsiveness.

Can we expect further changes? Perhaps client side prediction? Is this still on your radar of things to fix? Or has everything that can be done already been done and the game will play/feel like this indefinitely?

Nothing much seems to have been said in regard to the issue since the thread(s) was closed despite its ongoing prevalence, so I thought I'd put the question out there.

Unfortunately, it looks like Valve thinks that problem is "solved". Zoid keeps closing threads about it. The delay is most definitely still there, it's just less than it used to be. What I suggested is that they include client side prediction, like in all their first person shooter Source engine games. This would make unit response time effectively 0.

I'm guessing the delay is here to stay and they would just prefer not to make that "official" decision(?) public at the moment.

I think that the delay is not one of their priorities for now. They are focused on bugs and things like that.

the admin closed that thread because the posts became useless instead of being constructive (like this thread is useless aswell)
they know what to do and dont need ppl to tell them the same in 100 posts.

This thread isn't telling them what to do, this thread is ASKING them if possible to reveal what they plan on doing IF they plan on doing anything.

To be honest, it's fine regardless, I'm just curious what their stance on this is.

I'd like to know as well, even though we can get adapted to this delay I'd much much rather have the game without it.

no point in trying to fix something now, when they only have a limited number of servers running right now. Any problems they fix now will most likely appear again when they ramp up, even if they try and fix it now, so why would they double their work on it.

I don't think you know what this thread is about :/

This isn't about server capacity or ping, it's about the unit response delay also I don't think OP is asking for a fix but merely wondering if there is anything planned in regards to this matter?

I recall the issue with adding client side prediction was that it allows for potential hacking to occur.
CPU make and model: intel i7 4700MQ 2.4ghz
GPU make and model: Nvidia Geforce 860M
                        Ram: 8GB DDR3
                        Operating System: Win7 HP
                        Connection speed: 600KB/s || 100KB/s || 764MS

I would also be very interested in this. Please do inform us whoever has the authority to do so.

I don't see how client side prediction makes hacking any easier to do or any more viable than it already is. Client side prediction is overridden by the server. If the client was wrong in it's prediction, then the client will see some weird things happen, but the server will never assume the client is right. In fact, the server doesn't even take into account what the client predicts.

@bob yes i know exactly what this thread is about, and my point is solving the latency for some users now, would be a waste of their time, because most likely whatever solution they come up with can't be validated until they have a larger user base, and more servers. And yes, ping has absolutely everything to do with it. Go read the posts by void on the subject, like most of the others have regarding prediction.
