  • Tooltip issues compilation

    Hello! I decided to go through all tooltips for hero abilities to see if I could find anything to improve. So here is the result. Some might argue that you can't add too much info in the tooltip. But in most cases I have just added a word or two or even shortened the tooltip in some cases. The changes are in bold if I have just added or changed a word. Anyways feel free to discuss the changes and add more to the list!

    Edit: Okey so alot of the suggested changes to the tooltips were implented. There are still some errors that needs to be fixed though and others which can be made clearer!

    Death Prophet - Exorcism "Unleashes evil spirits to drain the life of nearby enemy units and structures. At the end of the spell's duration, Death Prophet is healed for 25% of the damage dealt. Lasts 30 seconds."

    Gyrocopter - "Fires a homing missile to seek the targeted enemy unit. The missile gains speed over time, dealing damage and stunning on impact. The missile deals greater damage the further it has traveled. Enemy heroes can destroy the missile with 3 hits before it reaches its target."

    Also since it dosn't deal a fixed amout of damage it should say Maximum Damage: 110/220/330/440 instead of just Damage: 110/220/330/440

    Juggernaut Omnislash - "Juggernaut leaps towards the target enemy unit with a damaging attack, and then slashes a random (current says other) nearby enemy units, dealing between 175-250 damage per slash. If a unit is alone, it will take all of the damage. Juggernaut becomes invulnerable while Omnislashing and mini-stuns the first target."

    Comment Removed "The fewer units available to attack, the more damage those units will take; " because even if you are in the aoe (with other units) there is a chance that you will take no damage at all. Also it dosn't jump to an other unit, but to a random unit in the aoe; which can be the same unit again.

    Lich - Sacrifice "Sacrifices a friendly creep and converts its current HP into mana for Lich. Enemy heroes get no experience from creeps killed with Sacrifice."

    Luna Lunar Blessing - "Grants bonus damage to nearby allied heroes, while blessing Luna with extra night vision." Credits to dongbinrabbit

    Mirana "Calls down a wave of meteors to damage nearby enemy units. One random enemy unit in 175 range will take a second hit for 75% of the damage." - Credits to RobustPenguin

    Comment Currently missing '%'.

    Morphling Replicate - "Morphling replicates any hero, friend or foe, although only dealing 50% the original hero's damage. At any time, Morphling can instantly take the position of the Replicate. The replicate illusion receives 100% damage."

    Naga Siren - Song of the siren "All enemies in range of the Naga Siren are put into a magical stasis where they cannot act or be damaged or affected by any spell. Using Song of the Siren again will end the duration early."

    Comment Old tooltip said "cannot act or be attacked" but by wording it this way it will seem that you still can damage them with spells

    Natures Prophet - Teleport "Teleports to any point on the map. Takes 3 seconds to cast"

    Tiny - Avalance "Bombards an area with rocks, stunning and damaging enemy land units. An enemy under the effects of both Toss and Avalanche will take double damage from Avalanche."

    Witch Doctor - Maledict "Curses all enemy Heroes in an area, causing them to take damage every second, adding bonus damage every 4 second for every 100 HP lost since the curse began"

    Comment: Current tooltip (Curses all enemy Heroes in an area, causing them to take damage every 4 seconds, adding bonus damage for every 100 HP lost since the curse began") is false since it deals damage every second and then the bonus damage every 4 second

    Visage - Grave Chill "Visage drains the movement and attack speed of the targeted unit, gaining it for itself. The speed gained is independent of the amount that was reduced on the target."

    Movement speed drained: 32%
    Attack speed drained: 64%

    FIXED/IMPLEMENTED

    Anti-Mage - Mana Void "For each point of mana missing by the target unit, damage is dealt to it and surrounding enemies. The main target is also ministunned. (since the stun duration is mentioned in the tooltip)

    Bane - Nightmare "Puts the target enemy or friendly Hero to sleep and deals damage per second. Sleeping units are awakened when attacked, but the Nightmare passes to the attacking unit. Nightmared unit instantly wakes up if it takes damage"

    Broodmother - Spin Web "Throws out a web that renders Broodmother invisible in its vicinity, while also boosting regeneration, and granting a passive movement speed increase. The web lasts indefinitely, but when the maximum limit is exceeded, the oldest spun web disappear." credits to axis757

    Dazzle Poison Touch "Casts a poisonous spell on an enemy unit that ministuns on impact, causing damage and slowness over time, and eventual paralysis.
    At level 2, the slow increases after 1 second, and at levels 3 and 4, the target is stunned for 1 second after the slow."

    Naga Siren - Rip Tide "The Naga Siren and her images hit all nearby units with a damaging wave of water that lowers armor for 8 seconds."

    Sniper - Assassinate "Sniper locks onto a target enemy unit, and after 1.7 seconds, fires a devastating shot that deals damage and ministuns the target at long range."

    Vengeful Spirit - Nether Swap "Instantaneously swaps positions with a target Hero, friend or enemy. Interrupts channeling skills of the target."

    Witch Doctor - Death Ward "CHANNELED - Summons a deadly ward to attack enemy heroes. The Death Ward has attack range of 700, and attacks every .3 seconds. Level 3 Death Ward bounces once(old: has multishot and attacks multiple targets. false). Lasts 8 seconds.

    Inconsistency with ministuns/mini-stuns/mini stun is also fixed!

        Remove the god awful percentage symbol (%) on AA's Chilling Touch.

        It doesn't slow your AS by 15% of your total AS. It's just -15. Trash pubs raged at me this thinking it's -15%. Chilling Touch is almost always worth the -15 AS.

            Very nice. I'm of the opinion that all information regarding the spell should be contained in the tooltip.

              This seems like a great time for me to point out my biggest pet-peeve with abilities so far. If an ability has any sort of range or area of effect associated with it, highlighting the ability should show me the respective range in all cases. Currently, if for some reason the range is listed out in the tooltip, hovering over the ability will not show the range. This is horrible. Even after 500 games, I still have trouble visualizing "400 units" or even remembering if that's small or large. Give me a radius.

                Well -15 AS and -15% is the exact same thing when i comes to attack speed.

                  Meh, common sense helps out a lot there. Being knowledgeable isnt bad either. DotA (2) is and will (maybe) always be a snakepit.

                      Ok quote directly from the site "Attack speed is represented in game as a number, usually with a percentage sign (%), but sometimes not. Regardless of whether a percentage sign is included or not, the attack speed acts the same." But they should really use only one of the two methods to lessen the confusion.

                        Nope.
                        Some skills(target point skills like wave form and crypt swarm) doesn't affect the sleep state of the unit that's been nightmared and can still inflict dmg.
                        ..could still be misleading.

                          I just tested and waveform does wake the unit up. From playdota "If the target recieves any type of damage except Nightmare, then it will wake up.", you probably did it in the first second when the unit is invulnarable.
