  • Anti-aliasing glitch with Radeon x1650

    Hi there,

A short while ago my graphics card fried and until I can get a new one, I borrowed an older one from my brother, specifically a Radeon x1650. I know it's an old card but it does the job for now.

However, there are some glitches or bugs, I'm not sure, with Dota 2.

I've included some images in this album:

    Image 1:

    Render quality: 70%, AA Enabled.

This is currently the way I play. The game runs smooth enough however, as the render quality suggests, it doesn't look very nice.

    Image 2:

    Render quality: 70%, AA disabled

The second I disable anti-aliasing, the game just becomes dark, all particles are disabled and not even the move marker doesn't work (the green arrows that show on the ground when you right click it).

    Image 3

Render quality: 100%, AA disabled - hero alive

When using 100% render quality and disabling AA, the game runs smooth and everything is great. However, the glitch comes back when the hero dies.

    Image 4

Render quality: 100%, AA disabled - hero dead

And this is where it all falls apart again. When AA is disabled and the hero dies, the glitch is back and once again particles and the move marker don't work. This is really bad for heroes with micro that can still control other units while dead.

    Image 5

Render quality: 100%, AA enabled - hero dead

This is the only option where everything looks great and works great. However, since the graphics card is weak, it cannot handle all the details and the FPS is really bad.

I was wondering if anyone else encountered this problem using an old or even newer video card and if there's a fix. It's really annoying and I'm not sure what's causing it. Yes, the card is old but it supports dx 9.0c, it has pixel shaders 3.0.

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out.

    Thank you.
