  • High gamma with Vulkan API enabled

So I have this issue ever since the AMD Driver update to version 16.10.1 ( Vulkan driver ver 1.3.0, Vulkan API ver 1.0.26) When I enable the Vulkan API via the launch properties the gamma rises, and I don't have any option to reduce it. The GPU is AMD Radeon R7 360M (with 2Gb of it's own DDR3 RAM). The weird part is that when the Vulkan API is disabled, the problem is gone. Here are some examples of the bug:

Important note: before this driver update, the game worked fine in Vulkan, no gamma issues or anything.
Note 2: the black boxes on the second one are just censorship for privacy reasons, they don't actually appear in-game

Not a fix, but I am having the EXACT same issue. Upgraded my AMD Drivers and now the gamma / brightness is incredibly high.

I have been using Vulkan with no issues since Dota 2 supported it. I prefer using Vulkan as I get loads of flickering graphical bugs using DirectX.

I don't know if it's related, but all the Drop-Down-Box style of options boxes in the Settings menus, such as the Display Mode box. It only shows the left half of the drop down box.

So it's an AMD driver issue, what are you expecting from Valve? Surely there must be an advanced option in the amd control panel. Surely.

Under exclusive fullscreen mode you should have access to a brightness slider.
Or use cvar: r_fullscreen_gamma (default 2.2 - 1.6 would be brighter; 2.8 would be darker).
Note that there were quite a few reports this did not work, but it has been "fixed" several times since. There is also a known incompatibility with software like f.lux

The Drop_Down-Box is broken for everybody.
      Troubleshooting crashes
Dota 2 Resources: autoexec.cfg reference / benchmark.cfg / Tweak it yourself (launch options, cvars) / useful batch files
No-Bling GlanceValue & FPS ++ NEW! Panorama hotkeys NEW! dota_primary_mm_language_override NEW TOGGLE_QUICKCAST_TP.bat NEW FIX LEGACY KEYS YOURSELF! NEW Toggle UI Animations OFF

Thanks!!! r_fullscreen_gamma works perfectly. I've bumped it up to 5 and it looks like normal now.

Edit: Coming out of Dota this actually messes up Gamma outside of Dota I will just revert it when im finished playing.

Clearly an AMD bug since it should have no effect what so ever when alt-tabbing out of Dota 2.
I don't have an AMD card, but I do remember it having the option to create per-app profiles, including the gamma brightness etc. It's probably buried somewhere in their dreadful eastern-inspired layout (unlike the slick one from Nvidia).

I've made a post on the official AMD forums to tell them whats broken.

The only thing I can think of is if AMD have changed how they do something and Valve need to follow suit and change how it works in Dota 2.

I will have a look for a profile section like you suggested.
