  • Custom Games Punishment (?)

With dota 2 I thought we had got rid of most leavers forever but no...

I literally cant play any game for more than 3-4mins before half players leave. There is a dire need for a sort of punishment (any ideas are welcome) or at least a banlist for custom games, the games are unplayable as it is.

As it is, i waste most of the time trying to find a game, to play it for 3mins and poof all gone >.< We need something to cover the hole the lack of banlist left to custom games...

I had a great comment posted about my custom game the other day. Basically, he decided to downvote me because there were leavers in his game. Um, sorry?

Valve has their hands tied in some ways. They probably shouldn't enforce punishments on people who decide to quit playing half-completed, buggy, unfun games. They can't punish a host who quits: if the game crashed, it could have been either Valve's or the mod developer's fault.

That said, I think there could be some reasonable punishments. If you abandon in the first 5 minutes of gameplay, that might be grounds for punishment. Perhaps punishments only apply to Valve-approved mods, such as the ones running on dedicated servers. Perhaps modders themselves could be trusted with some leverage and dish out punishments that apply only to their mods (e.g., if you quit my mod before I turn on a special flag, such as a flag I turn on after a special surrender vote, you can't join a public lobby running my mod for X minutes). After all, if modders banned everyone, no one would be left to play the mod, so modders would err on the side of caution when automating bans. But then again, that's putting a lot of faith in modders to do the right thing.

Ofc there is the issue of sucky/buggy custom games that you want to try and and all but my idea (just came to me),

      1. Modders absolutely need to be UNinvolved.
      2. Someone can be punished (somehow) after game ruining same game multiple times.

      Examples,

      a. his account is available to be added to a personal banlist for that specific game after leaving/ruining X games in X amount of time.
      b. After leaving/ruining X times a specific game, he is automatically banned for a week from ALL custom games. Guess this will be best for games with dedicated servers.

Just a couples of ideas. I think i like (b) more. I say specific cause if he played that mod 100 times and he left 50 times, he knows what the mod is about and it has replayability value to him, yet he choose to ruin games.

make a ingame vote for player to chose or not if this can be seen as a leave , every 3 strike he take some game cooldown : 10min - 30min - 1h -2h - 5h - 10h - 24h - 7 day , every week , the cooldown on next punishement reduce by 1 rank
          it's like the cs:go anti-leaver system , but more flexible , slower , and bug-friendly
