  • Devs Please. Fix your matchmaking.

This is screamed upon every day in the discussions and is continuously ignored. This is getting extremely tiring, the pure mismatch of matchmaking, and the joke of a MMR system.

I do not want to be with the same toxic people after I have already reported them, and muted them in another match where they do the exact same thing. This has happened to me on 4four different occasions in 8 matches out of my last 30 or so. I want to be able to ignore someone and never be matched with them again. I don't want to be with a toxic Dazzle who builds a sange and yasha and a desolator and farms the jungle/feeds entire game while hurling abuse at "noob" team. I don't.

I don't understand why I'm put on a map with a witch doctor and dazzle who are both "carrys". I moved up in 400 MMR in two day to meet these idiots? Where I was with better people who understood what a ward was. Or a simple request PLEASE DAZZLE DON'T 1V5 INTO ENEMY TEAM. Who continues to do so over and over. I'm matched with people who don't understand the basic concept of "group up and push this tower" Instead one goes yolo into 3 enemies, one starts farming ancients one starts jungling. Wtf is this shit? Why am I consistently matched with these people? The same names, same faces. I'm looking at my Dotabuff, I'm looking at my stats vs theirs, I don't understand it. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=535883039 I'm fighting to get this account out of the trench http://www.dotabuff.com/players/123206431 it is made impossible with team mates will just not listen, and be toxic at the same time. Losing games like this is heartbreaking http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/1869533306 Has happened to me too many times, where allies over and over again jump into 3 enemies while we are trying to take down a tower.

I don't want to be matched with morons AGAIN after I have reported them. After they are toxic. After I have ignored them. What is the point when I'm matched up and they just start toxicity all over again? And I'm wondering did my report even do anything?

Fix the matchmaking, add some means testing, with basic knowledge about the game. Dealing with invis heroes, I buy dust for a team mate who has two slots free. He tells me he doesn't need then gets killed by a brood/riki combo. Why am I faced with such idiots?

I am sorry to tell you this, but the system is designed to keep you where you are. If you raise your MMR, you automatically increase your win rate, which means, you get matched with people who got a lower win rate. Most of them, well, suck like those you described, which then mostly leads to a loss and a loss of MMR.

        Possible solutions:
        New Account
Lower your win rate ( can be accomplished in unranked )
        Deal with it

Nah i think the guy has a good point; its about improving the community and punishing toxic behavior. Something lol figured out a while ago with its tribunal etc. You should be able to block people and have the matchmaking not match you with them ever again. And you should be able to report people and have that actually make a difference like putting them into a poor behavior queue where they get to play with other asshats only.

As you describe the situation you are somewhere around 2k bracket (or lower? ). Even if you are higher, explanation is the same.
If your mates seem to idiots, you are in a shitty bracket. In that case chances are that your enemies are on average the same level. Sometimes you can't win a game because you got a lot better team, sometimes it's the exactly opposite, your opponents are dumb as fuck and it's almost impossible to lose the game.

The number of such games even in a long run, so the mmr gained/lost in them doesn't count. What really counts, are the games where the way you play decides the fate of the game, and it's up to you go grab the opportunity and turn the tides of the game.

Also if you team is toxic, ignore them. Still try to do your best, it might be one of the game in which you count decisevely. If you still lose it, then it's one of the game you can't win, it will be evened out in time, but the toxic player will likely drop more because of their skill, so if you keep playing well you'll never meet them again.

I don't think it's a matter of winrate. You can try this yourself if you like. When you make a new account you get matched with relatively decent people. People talk to each other, they help each other and generally communicate. But lets say you take the role of a carry or a mid, God forbid that for any reason 1 of your teammates didn't like your build, or your pick, or your advice, or your voice and reports you. a lot of times there is really no grounds for reports, and the sad part is that they all count the same, that's right, the guy feeding couriers going 0-42 has the same say as somebody that is actually trying to win the game.

Ok but back to the story, lets say you have a decent 20 matches, good winning streak, the losses have been good games (almost always the case on new accounts). If for any reason you get punished (muted or sent to low prio) you'll find out that upon ending the punishment, there will be at least 1 toxic player on each game. Feeding couriers becomes more of a thing, stealing farm, flaming, all that good stuff. And how do you get out? Well you cant take the carry/mid role, if the match goes bad teammates will blame you for the loss, even if the blame is made up. If you go support you have a better chance, but likely the guy you are supporting will start flaming the minute the game goes bad. And this happens at EVERY BRACKET. There are toxic players from 2k to 6k.

Dota punishes players for playing lots of games, You play enough and you will end up with toxic players because the chances of reports within a period of time will be higher. I would suggest remove the bunching players in a pool algorithm (anybody can report with no good basis), make reports work on a per games (as supposed to per time) played basis to avoid punishing players that play more games, and make the punishment for them tougher like counter strike has - cooldown that increases on each offense (2h 24h 2d 7d)

My issue isn't mainly the idiots, it's the toxicity and being matched with them again and again. I've played on 3.5k-4.5k accounts of friends and party with them often. My smurf I started recently I'm being calibrated in All Pick (can't ranked yet) with people 3.3k+ My issue is the grind, my issue is being matched with same toxic people more than once. I just had a game where I reported a party of 3, a centaur, pl and riki stack. They were horribly toxic, fed, and didn't listen to team at all. I got matched with them again after a horrible loss and feed fest. Lo and behold it happened again.

If you requeue instantly after a game with bad players chances are high to be matched with them because you are the same rating and searching in same time. Get a 5-10 min break and queue again and very likely you won't see them again. Chances to get matched with them after some time are small, and as I said if they are dumb and you are good you should not get matched with them ever again because your ratings will diverge. If you don't, well you just have a the same game impact as them, gotta give you some insight how valuable you are in a team. Peace

Mates, there's no "hidden pool" bullshit anywhere. Matchmaking just takes in consideration 2 things: rating and number of parties. If you have a bad team or a feeder it's because you are unlucky but that's all.

I've been matched with same morons on different days this week. Your theory holds no ground.

I didn't say you have no chance, it's just that you have less since players usually queue instantly after a game, so you avoid them by waiting a bit. Also, if you'd raise your rating and they are as bad as you say they should drop in mmr and you should rise. But you stay at the same level, so you get matched with them when you queue simultaneously :3

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=539239236 Now here's another reason why I don't want to be matched with parties. The ember had a real "know it all" attitude at start. Fed 0-9.Yes 0-9 wasn't ganked, he tower dived against an invoker etc. Then rage quit. So did the dusa, within 15 mins. Turns out in the end they were partied. We fought on and nearly won. Could have been easily won with 5 man.

I think if Valve returns the solo queue(the real deal), where people who solo queue get matched with people who solo queue and not with a party of 3 feeders the solo games could become a bit better.

I gotta agree with CrowZer0, I have like 2k games in total and It's really frustrating when I see that same ignored guy (from my side) keep getting matched with me and ruining games.

Mute system is kinda like "bad player system" to me as i mostly mute bad players, feeders, trolls, leavers and I really don't want to play with them in future....
Valve should consider to add some kind of system where if you ignore player you never get matched with them again. I know that would make finding match longer but It's certenly better.
