    riso3d,

I use Blender for my entire workflow (modeling, texturing, normal mapping, animation) and don't know the specifics of using Maya. I recommend starting at at the DotA 2 workshop page (link). It has instructions on what the max texture sizes are and the maximum number of polygons, etc. For the specifics of using Maya to texture a model, animation, etc. I recommend searching for instructional videos -- that's what helped me using Blender.

    I hope that helps.

How do you test custom items (courier) in game?

I'm struggling with how to test custom items in-game; specifically, a courier.

I've created the model, all the animations, and submitted the courier. In the Dota 2 Tools, during the submission process I can click on Preview In Game and I'm able to see the Courier when I select the Heroes tab -> Global Items -> Couriers and Wards -> Couriers. While I can see my new courier's preview when I hover the mouse over its graphic, I can't click on/select the courier (#DOTA_ITEM_NEW_COURIER_ITEM) and then click "Demo Courier" which I thought would be the most logical way to test it.

Do you use the Hammer editor to load/test the courier? Or, Do the console somehow in Dota 2 to test the courier?
