  • Arcade UI Concept to replace top 10 list

    Brief
As someone who uses and likes the modding tools other modders and I agreed for a long time that the top 10 list is not very good. So I designed a concept to revamp the arcade.

Games can now be scrolled through and use a filter
These filters are: Magic, Most Popular, Rising, etc. I think the tabs at the top like browse should remain as some of the filters are not that useful on the overview tab but still serve a purpose. Magic: this uses an algorithm to determine games for you, which is made up of the most popular games, games you played recently, rising games and games which you have subscribed to but have been updated a lot since you last played it. This is the default filter when you open the client.

    Leveling System:
Players gain experience from playing mods (play time). A maximum can be gained from one mod per day to prevent exploits and the encourage players to try other mods. A leaderboard between you and your friends can add some encouragement for you to play more mods. To keep players playing mods regularly I suggest having your level halved at the end of each month. You should have a dota trophy for the highest level reached before a halving. The trophy can then be showcased on your dota profile.

    XP boost:
The featured game of the day will give bonus XP i.e. x2. Small XP boosts could also be given to players playing in a party. It would also be a nice touch to add special weekends where all custom games get a bonus XP. These weekends could be during down time between big tournaments and no new patches. However it is important that these special weekends (or days) don’t clash with the battle cup. Also XP boost stack, so if you get x1.2 for playing in a part and x2 for featured game your now getting a x2.2 XP boost.

    Notes:
Just a couple of things to note, I made width of the open lobbies container smaller, as the original has a lot of unnecessary spacing. The featured game should almost never be a valve mod as they get a lot of players regardless, if valve releases a new mod then there can be an exception to this.
