  • Poor MMR calibration experience

I've been playing Dota from over 7 years. Mostly on LAN. But from last year I have a good internet connection so I started playing online. After playing almost 2000 matches. I'm winning most of the game now from past few months. Now I was thinking about calibrating my MMR so I can play more competitive Dota. Unfortunately during my first 4 games I was put with 2.5k average MMR player. They are horrible at playing, arrogant and so far it is a horrible experience. I thought if I perform well and keep a positive mentality I'll go up in the MMR chart for my next few matches. So I did good on my 5th match with 16/1/12 and carried whole team Plus bought supports wards. End of the game I commended everyone for let me mid and take the responsibility. But on my next match I was with 2.6K avg. MMR team. And on the start they horribly treated me when I said "I'm calibrating my MMR let me play my best hero" .In fact they were so rude that I had to rage quit which I never do. I have backup internet and power so I don't play LP either. I keep a positive mentality . that's why I got 500+ commends and also get less reports.

Now I don't have an Idea of how MMR calibrated so far what I've learned is that if you do good in a match during calibration they will put you with higher MMR player to test your skills which is not happening. And If I keep playing with 3k or below MMR player they will drag me down to their level. I'm expecting around 4.5k MMR so that I can play tournaments and also raise from there . But If I get around 3K I'll probably just quit dota. Wasted 7 years for nothing.

I'm a game developer too and I know its hard to control this huge community but you guys need to change the system. I gave suggestions to Facebook, YouTube, Bitdefender, Advanced System Care and many more and they implemented my idea.

So here's my 1st idea for Dota.
Calibrate MMR after 25 games like we see the summery. If I do good in 25 match I get bonus MMR depends on my performance and If I do bad then reduce MMR so that I play with lower MMR and try to improve. Calibrating MMR bassed on 10 games once in lifetime is so stupid and painful for users. You can see a lots of people creating new account and re calibrating MMR which is also not a cool thing. Also people with 2k MMR never gets out of 2k which is not fair. You guys can still keep the 10 Game Calibration system but don't make it a supper impotent thing. In fact Every game in dota is now impotent since its a professional sports.

Start the new system on a 30 day trial write detail documentation on how the system works let the community decide whats best for them. People love dota they will do anything to make it better.

    Good Luck !!
