  • [CTD] Particle-related issue

I encountered a crash (with some exceptionally documented console errors being output) with the following steps:

    - Have 2 particles open. One is a child of the other (this is the relocate timer particle system for Io)
    - Take an existing particle (which is attached to the main parent particle of the aforementioned particle system, as a child)
    - "Save as" the particle with a different name (the particle shown in the particle asset browser in the lower half of the PET changes to the newly created particle version, replacing the original one)
    - Open old particle which was used to create new particle
    - Switch to main particle system and attempt to add the newly created particle as a child to the child of the main particle system (the child particle attached to the main relocate timer particle)
    - Tools should hang and crash shortly after, with the following posted in the console:

    Code:
    [ AssetSystem ]: On-demand recompile of asset particles/wisp_relocate_timer_sparks_b.vpcf
[ AssetSystem ]: -> reason: Invalid Dependency Information

    [ AssetSystem ]: On-demand recompile of asset particles/wisp_relocate_timer_sparks_a.vpcf
[ AssetSystem ]: -> reason: At least one out-of-date dependency: particles/wisp_relocate_timer_sparks_a.vpcf (file CRC changed)

This seems to be somewhat of an obvious error (incorrect workflow for adding new/existing particles to particle systems), just figured I'd post this for reference/posterity, and eventually to be fixed. It is also accurately reproducible.

This seems to have been "fixed" with the addition of the Particle Copy tool (thanks!).
