You can clearly see that the old effect rendered much more accurate and so much better
The inner layer of flame looks much brighter in old effect

    -----Impact 2 Colors became indistinguishable-----

With the current Ethereal Flame effect, you almost can't tell the difference between certain colors, for example:

    Example 1
Current Ethereal Flame effect in Reflections's Shade https://imgur.com/a/seSJWYY [255,60,40]

Current Ethereal Flame effect in Pyroclastic Flow https://imgur.com/a/R2JKA3f [255,120,50]

    Example 2
Current Ethereal Flame effect in Dungeon's Doom https://imgur.com/a/5jZ8xrL [123,104,238]

Current Ethereal Flame effect in Purple https://imgur.com/a/MFOdJhl [130,50,237]

Colors like these use to be different a lot, please see examples below

  • Ethereal Flame effect look different (buggy) in a bunch of colors

    Hi, Dota2 Dev

The Ethereal Flame effect has been one of the best effects ever produced. However, a patch between Jun 2018 and August 2018 made the flame effect much much less apparent/visible in a bunch of colors. In other words, quite a few colors especially those with smaller RGB values have much smaller flames than before (Some of them become even invisible). Besides, seems like there are multiple other issues with the current Ethereal Flame particle effect as well, so I just listed what I found below:

-----Update: Dived deep into the bug------

I know this may not even be close to the actual Ethereal Flame particle effect rendering mechanism but it is a theory.

So seems like the Ethereal Flame is a stack of different particle layers, take color orange for example [208,119,51]

Old Ethereal Flame Effect: Every particle layer is rendered as 208,119,51, so the final color is orange

Bugged Ethereal Flame Effect: Particle layers are rendered unevenly: the very bottom particle layer is rendered as Orange, where as the rest of the upper layers are rendered redish, which could be the max of [208, 119, 51] (it could be the max two of [208,119,51]. So 208, 119, 51 becomes 208, 0, 0 Assume there are 3 layers, [208,119,51] X 3 >> [208,119,51] + [208,0,0] x 2. So the final color is red-orange. (Again this may not be close to the true rendering mech but this is what currently showing in game, only the very bottom layer is rendered correctly at the moment)

The layer around the courier's feet is rendered as Orange whereas the layer around courier's neck is rendered as Red

The effect is eventually rendered as a mixed up of Red-Orange

Every particle layer should be rendered the same. Please take a look and fix it!
