  • 3 day Trade Delay when you buy new items

When you buy a new item in the store and not being able to trade it for 3 days, this rule has really bothered me...

However, it seems some people are not affected by this and can trade immediately after buying anything. I have a close friend who is like this.

Is there a reason why some people have this restriction and others don't?

May be you have a brand new account or have been previously reported for scam or something like that. I never faced any trading/gift restriction.

Also, this issue is more of a steam issue rather than dota2 issue.

Hmm, I see. I will contact Steam about this.

      THanks for the reply tho!

I got the exact same thing when I made my first purchase.

I have only used my steam account for playing tf2 for a week before moving to dota 2, so it's definitely not because I was reported for scamming/etc.

I guess it's probably because I have a relatively new steam account and it was my first ever purchase.

3 day trading delays are only for accounts that have less than 30 days since their first ever purchase. If you buy an item after those 30 days, it's instantly tradeable.
To keep these forums clean and friendly, please read and follow the forum rules.
Before making a new thread, be sure to have used search, as well as checking the stickies of the appropriate section.

Why aren’t some of my gifts tradable?

Only gifts that are purchased on trusted accounts can be traded immediately; otherwise there is a 30-day cool down before the gift can be traded. Any account that has made any valid purchase from the Steam Store more than 30 days ago is considered trusted. This is to ensure that all games traded are valuable, and help prevent fraudulent purchases for the purpose of trades.
