    Hi Everyone,

    After being an avid supporter of this game for some time now and spending about $100-$130 on the game to support its growth I am now very frustrated with dota 2 steam support and the in game store. After a multitude of bugs and store changes I now only have about $30 worth of in game content, which is ridiculous.

    First I contacted steam support about some store bugs (bought courier pack, couldnt equip couriers) and also regarding the recent price change (courier pack now half price. Considering I purchased it only a week or a couple of weeks ago I wanted to ask if I could get a refund or be refunded the difference in price.

    Apparently because I purchased a battle point booster in the same transaction this was not possible... so I offered to forgo the battle point booster refund or buy another one.

    I couldn't even use the couriers initially because of the equip bug (which is still present, although I now use the work around) but apparently there exists no way to grant items, or change the billing system what so ever. This is ridiculous and obviously not true, because Ive read on the forum multiple times about bugs with items and disappearing inventory being fixed.

    Here are just a few of the responses I received but I for one will not be spending another dollar on this game, as much as I love the game. Losing $100 of content due to bugs and then being told nothing can be done because the system doesnt allow it is quite frankly pathetic. Punishing the early supporters of the game is also a bad move in my opinion.



    1) "We cannot offer a refund for this purchase because another item that was purchased in the same cart, the battle bonus booster, has already been used."

    2) Unfortunately, our billing system is automated and we have no option to offer a partial refund on purchases or to add store credit to your account for the difference. We apologize for any inconvenience, and appreciate your understanding.

    3) As with most software products, we will not offer refunds or exchanges for any items purchased in Dota 2 as outlined in the software license - please review Section 4 of the Steam Subscriber Agreement for more information.

    4) Please note that Steam Support cannot grant or modify any items in Dota 2.
    Please submit all bugs and further feedback to the Dota 2 Dev Forums.

    **Edit not sure if its relevant but I'm lvl 34 in game due to using a lot of battle points bonuses (although no I haven't received 34 items ).**

    if you lost your inventory due to some flaw in the client you should definitely get reimbursed or get the items replaced

    hopefully someone here could look into it - i hate those automated cookie cutter responses

    edit: as a side note- i get more than one item per level(from drops) im not sure if the drops are based on battle points though...(so not sure what battlepoints are for atm)

      Sucks that you can't use your couriers that you bought, or at least, use them as you want without using your work around.

      I don't know what to suggest other than being patient. Valve have a great track record for ironing out bugs like this and I have no doubt that in time, you will eventually get the items you bought/ earned via level system. While it will probably take some time, you needn't worry about the items you payed for, the dota 2 team will eventually get around to sorting out the store bugs/item bugs.

      Just out of curiosity, when did you buy the couriers and how long have you been without the items you payed for?

        I just double checked the purchase and it was 3-4 weeks ago so a little longer than I thought so I couldn't use the couriers for 2 weeks until they emailed me a work around the bug. Not a huge deal but surprised they cannot give a refund considering they acknowledged they are bugged

          Yea that totally sucks. If anything they should DEFINITELY give you store credit for the items you got within two weeks that became half price. In league of legends, when you purchased something and it's price changed within two weeks of your purchase, they credited it to you without you asking for it. If valve doesnt do that automatically then they SHOULD do it when you ask for it. IF they dont do it even then... then we really should think 10 times before spending money here. I think you should keep nagging them and keep posting here and get ur money back.

          FIX MMR POINTS TO BE AWARDED FOR INDIVUDUAL PERFORMANCE RATHER THAN WHOLE TEAM SHARING THE FATE FOR THE FEEDER AND VICE VERSA. SO THAT YOU CAN HAVE +VE MMR POINTS EVEN AFTER A LOSS IF YOU DID REALLY WELL.
          ADD THE SURRENDER BUTTON SO THE CRUSHED TEAM DOES NOT WASTE >10 MINS AFK AT FOUNTAIN
          ADD SIZE CUSTOMIZATION FOR THE HUD.

              Hello there,

              I'm in the same Case than AussieMark, I bought for more than 100$ of stuff in the DotA² Store,
              but I have nothing to complain on, excepting the price of the Frog's courrier who changed after I've purshased it.

              Could you explain to us what is your problem with your courrier,
              note that you have to find a customisable hero, click on the red button to the right called "Show various items" and then equip it.
              You courrier will be available for all your game with all heroes.

              I hope you'll be refund.

                While I can understand that buying something just before a sale can suck, that system isn't ideal. What would be better is a minimum amount of time that something can be in the shop before it's eligible for a sale. After that point, buyer beware.

                  Its the same thing in all stores in usa. I actually bought my pc for 1000 dollars from costco, almost exactly a week after that the same pc had a deal on it of 100 dollars off. I went in, they gave me 100 dollars. I mean the point is to keep the customer happy, u know the mcdonals creator said, "take care of the customers and the business takes care of itself". Honestly, if valve had done something about the chests, they would have a lot of revenue. Reason being, people who DID buy them, were highly unsatisfied, posted everywhere how bad the system is and what happened to them, and now loads of people dont buy chests because of that alone. Just today i was trading with this guy, who got an item in chest, and he said hes never gonna get a key again cuz chests suck so hard. I know people on these forums claiming they bought 100s of dollars worth of keys and are totally pissed off at the results. Point I'm trying to make is, the customer service so far is highly unsatisfactory and thats whats pissing people off.

                    I appreciate the different views and ideas.

                    Basically the courier back was only out 1-2 weeks before it was discounted so I understand what you are saying and if it was a month or two I wouldn't mind but considernig the courier packs were only just realised it seems a bit strange to now drop the price after they have only been out 1-2 weeks so early buyers are basically screwed.


                    Basically the problem with the couriers (I assume you all have it?) is that when you click the courier and click equip player load out or equip, nothing happens. You have to manually go to a specific hero, then loadout then equip it on someone there and it will work.

                    Not a huge deal but obviously wasn't able to use the couriers for 2 weeks until they got back to me with this workaround because the most obvious way to use them (click equip) doesn't currently work.

                    Anyway would love a response or someone I can actually speak to. I asked steam support for an email or contact number of the developer team but they said they cannot give me that.

                    Any suggestions as who I could speak to would be appreciated, thank you

                      Completely agree. I feel ripped off and I'll tell anyone and everyone.

                      For just one purchase (courier pack) if I waited a couple of weeks I would have saved over $30 US. Its not huge but considering it feels like early buyers are being purchased (actually not just early buyers but any buyers in general) I'm unlucky to buy anything in the future.

                      Now if Valve just responded and gave me a refund (after they acknowledged the bug via email) they would only have to wait a couple of months to make a lot more money from me.

                        They don't have to give you a refund at all...

                        There was no price cut, it is a temporary discount. If things were like that no store in the world would ever give discounts...

                          Yeah I must agree. I don't see a problem at all. I don't know of any store that would give a refund for a product that was bought before a sale. It's a sale, not a price cut. After July, it will be back to normal price. So your products are still worth the same, its just that right now other people can buy 50$ worth of couriers for a cheaper price. The value of them haven't gone down. It's completely normal, and they are in their rights to say that you will not get a refund. There is a small bug that you can't equip the couriers from the backpack page, but its not that hard to just equip it to one hero, and it will be equiped to all other heroes as well. But that is it. The game, including the store, are in a beta, so everything is not working. If you have bought something and you didn't recieve it, then that's a bug, but what I read from your posts that is not the case.

                          If you have a gripe with how much you are spending on items that you don't think have that value, then complain, but don't expect a refund.

                            Amazon stopped refunding buyers retroactively many years ago. So it's fine to me if Valve chooses to do it the same way.

                            The couriers are cheaper just because of the "Summer Sale", I don't expect it to be a permanent thing. They always have huge Summer Sales on games during the summertime also, it was just last week you could get some really good deals on steam games.
