  • Retail and Ecommerce B2C CRM strategies should be applied to Dota2

I work in marketing and my specialty is data-mining & e-crm, basically, my job is about pushing the right offer to the right customer at the right time, while trying to develop a 1-to-1 dialog with millions of customers at once.

So far, in Dota2, I haven't noticed any type of effort towards the customization of products' offers in the store. Items are not filtered based on my favorite heroes (which I'm probably more likely willing to customize), there is no incentive to win back inactive customers, as lots of us have bought keys in the beginning to "try it out" and have not come back to paid transactions yet. Behaviors and patterns should be analyzed, the Chest looting seems to be very random so far.

I wish I could dig in the store data, and define predictive profiles to send weekly item suggestions to active players based on their history, twin behaviors, expected budget etc... It would be possible to play on prices range, availability, promotions etc. Lots of fun.

Anyway, I guess the game is still in beta, so that will maybe be thought of in the future, but right now I feel like the game is not build towards maximizing its revenue at all.
