  • Feedback - New types of cosmetics?

I've noticed for the new fire haired Lina cosmetic that's soon to be released it changes the hero's mini-map icon and portrait. That's what I've been hoping to see with cosmetics since they came out.

Right now I've stopped using them because I personally don't like how the portraits and everything else don't match up. Hopefully there will be more stuff like this. That kind of quality work is what I'd be willing to spend my money on.

that pricing is my only issue. the rest would seem pretty easy to pick up.

Gonna have to agree with you OP. The item itself is all good and fine (albeit a bit too much $). However when you go about changing minimap and art portraits, let alone spells themselves, the game becomes increasingly muddy. I don't believe that fire hair makes Lina unrecognizable enough to warrant an exclusive portrait.
On paper, it's not much to ask a person familiar with Dota 2 already to take 1 more portrait and maybe a set of spell visuals into account, but it's likely that there will be more items like this as well. Having a dozen heroes with alternate visual appearances on your UI can be confusing. Try teaching a new player in coming years and telling them they have to learn 100+ heroes twice over cause of alternate visuals is absurd.

Simply put: We shouldn't have to adapt to cosmetics.

^I think you misunderstood my original post. I'm happy that cosmetics are going to change the portraits and minimap icons to match the hero.

I'm sure players won't have a problem telling which hero is which with a few cosmetic differences. For the most part players are smart and able to adapt to things like that. Being a noob to the game doesn't make you an intellectual noob
