  • International 3 Ticket Critical Bug

Since 9:55 AM PDT, I had been waiting for the International 3 tickets to go on sale at 10:00 AM PDT. At about 10:25 AM PDT, they appeared in the store and I attempted to purchase 2 tickets. However, the following issues occurred through multiple mediums (website, mobile, and game client) that proved ultimately impassable resulting in the loss of opportunity to obtain the tickets:

    Web page medium.
    1. Login error loop. (After being prompted to login and enter my verification code, reentry into the shop subsequently logged me out. This issue repeated itself and eventually corrected itself but yielded other issues which are detailed below.)
    2. Re-Login and access error loop. (Eventually, my login was recognized and I was prompted to login simply by confirming the account I was trying to access was indeed, my account. This led to another page requesting permission for dota2.com to access my account. This page I never seen in purchasing or logging in since I started playing DotA 2 almost 2 years ago. This page and the re-login page looped for at least 8 attempts.)
    3. Shopping cart update and checkout error. (When I finally gained access to my account and the store, I reached another impasse: changing the quantity of tickets timed-out and resulted in an error message informing me that an error had occurred when updating my cart and the page will reload. After the reload my cart would be emptied and thus I had to re-select the items and attempt checkout again. The first few times this happened my account would be logged out too, so I had to re-login sometimes prompting the above issues again.)

    Mobile medium.
Same issues but the mobile medium is several times slower and the formatting of the pop-ups would make selections and entries impossible.

    Game Client medium.
The DotA 2 game client seemed to be update after a long delay; about 30mins to 1 hour (?) by which point the tickets were probably sold out.

Attached are a few screen shots of the pages of error in question. I was too optimistic to take more since I thought I wouldn't need to write this post.

The whole attempt process took 2 hours and I gave up after I started seeing the "sold out" message. All in all, I am disappointed that despite taking time out to prepare and acquire the tickets I will have to settle on the slim chance someone out there will sell their ticket for some fee. I understand that some issues can occur with online medium but I felt powerless to even get a fair shot at the tickets. Alas, I was actually looking forward to seeing DotA 2 and Valve with all their glory and the chance to support a company and project I love, grew up with and was inspired by. (Plus I was planning to deliver a gift in person to the DotA 2 team haha. I guess I'll mail it?) Perhaps, at least, this will serve as an asset to improve system in the future - especailly as DotA 2 gets bigger and more popular. Maybe an official blog post containing the exact time of sale (and maybe a countdown timer?) next time would help?

Yeah, well wish me luck. If anyone is selling tickets, please contact me, thanks.
Valve, I still love you. Just see to it that the future will brighter for us all.

Don't be a fool and buy it from somebody else for 200-300 euros.Just watch the stream or in DOTATV, i know it's not the same but trust me.200 euros are way toooo much for you to get just a seat.Forget what happened and hope you get luckier on the next International.
