  • When will we be able to submit new musicpacks for the workshop?

    Hi,

    I have been composing a music pack for Dota 2 for the last few months, and I'm finishing it up right now. Since I started working on it, the option to submit a musicpack in the workshop tools has been removed, because of the release of the Source 2 workshop tools. This is completely understandable, but being in the unknown is starting to get a little bit frustrating.
    So, I'm wondering when we will be able to submit our musicpacks? Me, and other composers I know of, have worked hard on our packs - and we have no idea when we will be able to submit them. As a working freelance composer, this makes my job complicated as I cannot really plan accordingly.

    Hoping to get some light shed on this.

    If you give us a sample and post it to a community website e.g. http://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2 we could get a bit more of Valve's attention. Thus faster response.

      Thanks for your answer GermanViet.

      I actually did post a preview on reddit; https://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comme...winds_looking/
      It reached the 7th spot on the frontpage, so I guess it might have caught their attention as they seem to check reddit quite often. Though, I'd prefer not to post the full pack on reddit before it's been submitted to the workshop. Afterall, reddit is one of the only marketing sources available for things like these. If I post it before it's submitted, people from reddit might miss it once it's actually been submitted to the workshop, which would be bad for me obviously.

      There was another music pack posted on Reddit 2-3 months ago, called The Highlander. It also reached the frontpage, but that didn't give any response from Valve either that I'm aware of.

        Valve should get to this. It's not like a small thing like some UI change or simple fix, it's actually important considering it involves a lot of people's time and money making these packs.
        Aside from that, music packs are nice

          There are strings (not currently public, but were datamined by Sir Belvedere) for music pack submissions for the workshop importer. So it's definitely going to happen some time (possibly with the next big patch). I just want particles ;_;

            Oh, I didn't know that, but that's great to hear. Hopefully it means it will be added soon.
            Thanks for the info.

              I remember seeing the post from SirBelvedere about it. Crossing my fingers the tools are updated sometime soon.

                Yeah, hopefully it's not long until we are able to.
