Dota 2: Warhammer “Call to Arms” Contest 2016

Eligibility. Entry open to any user holding a Steam account in good standing. No payment is required; a Steam account may be established without purchase, and access to Dota 2 is free. There is no limit on the number of entries to which a single user may contribute. Employees of Valve Corporation ("Valve") and SEGA Europe Ltd, SEGA of America, Inc and SEGA Holdings Co., Ltd. and their affiliates (collectively, "SEGA") and Games Workshop Limited (“Games Workshop”), including directors and officers, and their immediate families or affiliates are not eligible. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Void where prohibited by law.

Entry. Steam users may enter the contest by submitting a Warhammer-themed item to the Dota 2 Workshop. Contest entries must be submitted through the Dota Item Import Tool and tagged with "Warhammer". Entries are open from 10:00 am Pacific Daylight Savings Time on April 29th, 2016, to 10:00 am Pacific Standard Time on August 29th, 2016 (the "Entry Period"). Entries must comply with the Steam Subscriber Agreement and Workshop Supplemental Terms, and Dota 2 Workshop guidelines.

Entrants may use intellectual property from Warhammer Fantasy Battles games (the “Warhammer Fantasy Materials”). Valve hereby grants all entrants a personal, nontransferable license to use Warhammer Fantasy Materials to create Dota 2 items for submission via the Dota 2 Workshop during the Entry Period. This license is authorized by SEGA and Games Workshop. SEGA and Games Workshop retain ownership of the Warhammer Fantasy Materials and any elements of the Dota 2 items which represent, comprise, derive from or are based on the Warhammer Fantasy Materials. No other use of the Warhammer Fantasy Materials is authorized or permitted. To the extent that entrants own any intellectual property rights in their entry submissions, Games Workshop and SEGA shall be granted a worldwide, unconditional, royalty free, irrevocable, sub-licensable license in perpetuity in respect of the Accessory Sets (to the extent that they contain any material which does not constitute Warhammer Fantasy Materials) .
Entries generated by script, macro or other automated means will be void. Valve is not responsible for misdirected, incomplete, lost, late, illegible, undelivered, inaccurate or delayed entries, or for technical, hardware, or software failures of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmissions or other errors or problems that may limit or affect a person's ability to participate in the Contest. In the event of sabotage, acts of God, terrorism or threats thereof, computer virus or other events or causes beyond Valve's control, which corrupt the integrity, administration, security or proper operation of the Contest, Valve reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to modify, cancel or suspend the Contest. In the event of cancellation, Valve reserves the right to award prizes from among all eligible, non-suspect entries received prior to the event requiring such cancellation. False or deceptive entries or acts will render the entrant ineligible.

Winners. Valve, SEGA and Games Workshop, in their sole discretion, will select up to eight (8) winning entries no later than August 22nd, 2016. Valve will announce the winners on no later than September 1st, 2016.

Prizes. Each winner will receive a package of the following SEGA games, available on Steam (subject to age, region, and legal restrictions that may apply to the particular winner):
    Total War: Warhammer
    Total War: Grandmaster Collection
    Dawn of War Franchise Pack
SEGA will provide a key for the package of games after the winner completes any documentation required by SEGA. The winner is solely responsible for any taxes applicable to the prizes.
Pre-purchase Give Away. Valve may give away copies of the winning entries to Steam users who have pre-purchased Total War: Warhammer before the game is released May 24th, 2016 at 9 am Pacific Standard Time.

Dota2 Sales and Drops. Winning entries may be offered to users in Dota2, for sale or for free. When winning entries are sold, Valve will pay creators a 25% revenue share, pursuant to the terms of the Steam Subscriber Agreement and Workshop Supplemental Terms.

Release. By entering into the Contest, each entrant agrees to release, discharge, and hold harmless Valve, SEGA and Games Workshop from any liability whatsoever, and waive any and all causes of action, related to any claims, costs, injuries, losses, taxes, expenses or damages of any kind, either at law or in equity, whether known or unknown, arising out of or in connection with this Contest, including the possession, use or inability to use any prize. If chosen as a winner, each entrant hereby consents to the use of his/her name, likeness, photograph and entry submission in any and all media for promotional purposes in any manner by Valve or SEGA, their designees and their advertising and promotion agencies without further compensation or notification, except where prohibited by law.

General. Valve, SEGA and Games Workshop shall not be liable for (i) lost, misdirected, damaged, illegible, incomplete, or late entries, (ii) any conditions beyond the control of Valve that may cause the contest to be disrupted, or (iii) any losses or damages of any kind resulting directly or indirectly from acceptance or use of any prizes awarded in this contest or for participation in this contest. No substitutions by the winners will be permitted, but Valve may substitute a prize of equal or greater value. Valve reserves the right to amend these contest rules or to terminate the Contest. The terms of these Contest Rules shall be enforceable by Valve, Sega and Games Workshop.

Contest sponsored by Valve Corporation, P.O. Box 1688, Bellevue, WA 98009-1688. The contest is governed by the law of Washington, USA. SEGA is an intended third party beneficiary of these contest rules.

Hi Dhabih, was hoping you could clear a few things up.

"Entrants may use intellectual property from Warhammer Fantasy Battles games (the “Warhammer Fantasy Materials”)."

Is this licence exclusively Warhammer Fantasy Battle (version 8)? or does it include the entire catalogue, including the most recent Warhammer Age of Sigmar (version 9)?.
I can see a few artists over on polycount already making sets based on age of Sigmar figures and would hate to see them not be considered due to IP licencing issues.

"Winners. Valve, SEGA and Games Workshop, in their sole discretion, will select up to eight (8) winning entries no later than August 22nd, 2016."

"Entries are open from 10:00 am Pacific Daylight Savings Time on April 29th, 2016, to 10:00 am Pacific Standard Time on August 29th, 2016 (the "Entry Period")."

    to summarise

Winner selection no later than the 22nd, entries close on the 29th.

Thanks for the time, and to everyone for putting togeather such a fantastic IP crossover!.

I came here to post the exact same question as Lenny for the exact same reason.

I would love to have the eligible universe question cleared up.

All the best and thank you!

This contest does not cover Warhammer Age of Sigmar (version 9) as part of the eligible IP. Hope that clears it up!

I am a little confused about submission deadline. Is it the 22nd, or is 29th too late - technically?

I have the same question: Is the submission deadline the 22nd or the 29th of August? There are 7 days of difference, I think this is a very important change...
