  • Can we please have quickcast available for "attack" and "move", or re-add "sixense"

Literally everything can be quickcast (i.e. cast on keypress without requiring a mouse-click, using current cursor position) except "attack" and "move". Some of us would like a consistent user interface. We used to be able to fake it with sixense aliases (e.g. bind "a" "mc_attack; +sixense_left_click; -sixense_left_click") but sixense commands are missing in Source 2.

There can't be balance reasons for this, since we already have right-click deny as a [one-button, one-action] option (convar dota_force_right_click_attack), which is the main reason for wanting "quick-attack".

So why do we need quick-attack at all? The main reason is because right-click deny puts move commands and attack commands on the same button, which leads to inevitable snafus. Having quick-attack lets us issue an unambiguous attack command if and only if we want it, in a way consistent with the general quickcast feel of not needing to press two buttons for one action.

(For consistency, quickcast for "move" should also be available, though I don't think it's much in demand. But one does occasionally issue move commands with the keyboard, i.e. when having Lycan wolves chase but not attack a target. And perhaps some players would like to never use right-click at all (since it is always slightly ambiguous) and so would use only quick-attack and quick-move.)

P.S. Heroes of the Storm has quick-attack. We don't want to be missing one of their features if we can help it, do we?

It was added as an option, not a keybind. So people can't have both. Quick move is still missing.

While I agree it should really be done as GermanViet says, I'd still like to say thanks for what has been done.

By the way, if anyone does want to have both attack types available, the following workaround seems to work:

// Unbind attack in the GUI, then add this to your autoexec (which also takes a workaround to get working, search Reddit)
            bind "a" "dota_settings_quick_target_attack 1; mc_attack"
            bind "z" "dota_settings_quick_target_attack 0; mc_attack"
