  • Dota2 needs x64 support

Dota2 , The most popular game in steam , a game that uses lots of cpu/gpu/ram , doesn't support x64 architecture yet !

I created this thread to say "We need x64 support"

Please reply , and ask Valve to make x64 version of dota2 .

"Lots of gpu/ram"? Dota 2 is CPU heavy and that's it. x64 support would change nearly nothing, apart from people who have memory-leaks to have a higher value until it crashes.
If you think I've closed or deleted a post unjustified, feel free to PM me and I'll explain it to you/discuss it with you further.

      i have a c2d, 4gb ram, HD 4650 and can play it on maxed settings @ 70+fps.

Srsly, i dont really think that perfomance is a that big issue. Id rather have a god damn fixed mm system.

I don't think DotA 2 needs that many memory................................

So it is a waste of programming effort. And you still can start 32bit programs on 64bit PC.

The 64bit allows you to have more RAM. But it can be slower than 32bit. (A lot simplified: 64bit refers to 64bit memory adress. Information are often send via adresses. Instead of 32bit adress your system now has to send 64bit adress......)

With 32bit system you can have around 4GB RAM max. Do you think DotA uses that much?

I run Dota2 on 7-64 Bit and I get 120FPS with no Clash or anything bad.

My dota 2 always crashed because of graphic card error unless I'm playing or spectating a game. Maybe that is the problem because my OS is a 64bit architecture?

Nope, most likely faulty gfx driver or borked ram.

But this only happens in dota 2, not any other games. Also I just bought my ram like last month and it happens to both my old ram and new ram as well.
