  • [Suggestion] Ranged Hero's Melee Attack Animation

    I don't where to suggest this... so...

    Well, In DOTA2 there are moments where a ranged hero attacks in melee range.

    note: They will not turn into melee units.. their attack animation will just look different if they attack in melee range. They still have attack projectile(invisible). This is just pure visual...

    For example:
    Melee hero attacks a range one and had to fight back...


    So, I suggest that ranged heroes will have their melee attack animation.

    For example:
    Sniper uses his hand to hand combat skill.
    Traxex uses dagger in melee range.
    Windrunner will hit using her bow.
    Lina will slap with her flaming hand.
    Lion will use his wand like a bat(it will glow for magical effect).
    Huskar will use his dagger instead.


    Pro/s:
    More effects to Dota 2

    Con/s:
    More work for valve

    well... I don't see how this could hurt anything as long as it has low prio (though it can be higher than cosmetics).
    But I doubt it.
    + You probably notice it the first few games then you won't even notice...

        Sounds dumb.
        You do know how much people kite in Dota 2, and how a melee situation can turn into a ranged situation? You don't think at all that the animations could in any way look janky? Cmon bro

              you talk about bringing logic into game mechanics. Because sniper sure is shooting scythes out of his rifle, how does his bullets even gain damage when he carries swords in the backpack?. Or hell, carrying an axe sure makes you able to wing your own weapon in a wider angle. We even have kids logic, that with cooler boots you run faster (and that's just on one foot, imagine if you got on your other foot, damn you'd be running fast).
              OP, however, is talking about a cosmetic change.

                cute, but no, actually i talk about core mechanics that classifies heros either melee or ranged.

                i see no reason to mess around with that.

                  This is no mechanic change at all.
                  ranged heroes will still be ranged heroes.
                  It's not the animation or with what kind of weapon they attack with that defines them being ranged.
                  Them being able to attack at range makes them ranged.

                        It's not because it will be ONLY aesthetical. Only for your eyes. Don't you get that? When let's say the target is closer than 125 units sniper will punch him WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING TO MECHANICS. It will be consider a ranged hit for the game. Is it so hard?

                            really you are impossible you are trying to find logic in dota mechanics. Yeah everything makes sense in dota so if we make ranged heroes melee in close combat ( which makes more sense than everything in this game ) is very silly and stupid. Also what part of NO MECHANICS WILL BE TOUCHED you do not understand? And who said that anything about selling them?

                              I don't get what's confusing.
                              He is a ranged hero, thus he get 12% dmg bonus.
                              Doesn't matter if he has a melee animation when he's in melee, he is still a ranged hero.

                              A melee animation has nothing to do with the game mechanics.
