  • Humiliating new / unexperienced players

With Dota 2 being out of beta, somehow things seem to have changed. I often get grouped with people way below my own not superior skill level (lvl 18) and have to play against highly skilled and experienced players who just stump over the opposing team. Matchmaking has been adressed now in many threads but what is really frustrating is another aspect in such games.

If you look at match ID: 250068500 you can on the one hand see a screwed up matchmaking but also the aspect described further below.

After 25 mins our mid tower was down and the enemy stood in our base. Since it was obvious that the game was over, Huskar went afk anyway and the rest remained in the base to let it be finished asap, so we all could take a lesson learned and move on. Unfortunately we encountered some fairly common antisocial behavior where the radiant group basically camped in front of our base and upon respawn killed everyone again. Maybe this gets rewarded in more personal points and better statistics, but it took another 8 mins for the creep to finish the ancient.

It is fairly common behavior and I don't support it whether I am on the winning or losing side. Since I see more onesided matches atm though the incidents are increasing. Humiliation (and it simply is nothing else) will in the end cause players to give up, support/encourage dcs ( which are at a much higher rate nowadays anyway) and shy away people from dota.

While in my personal opinion it is very poor behavior I wonder whether in such cases (all 5 players remain together in the base for more than 2 mins) the game could just end and be finished. This way everyone can move on and there is less frustration taking place.

You're asking for a surrender option, no.

1.) Hang in the back and force the enemy to come to you. Use any abilities you can to hold them in the fountain area.
2.) Use a smoke of deceit while they've stepped away and run for the jungle.

Either way they'll just run out of ideas and do something else.

The worst thing that can happen is an enemy Pudge.

Valve should give bonus XP for the winner team if the team ends it before min 35. With this we could avoid (sometimes, due to horrible MM) be sitting at our fountain 30 min till the enemy team ends.

I don't think a lot of people care about XP..

Well Noo, what is it then that drives it? I just don't see the fun in camping in front of the base and waiting for respawn so I can kill and prove my 'uberness'. I understand that a surrender button is no option and maybe if the MM is getting adressed, this will improve again. But in the last 2 weeks I have experienced many of such games on either side.

Some people want to break a record or just improve their K/D ratio. Adding some trees in the fountain or making it bigger, so spells like Pudge's hook can't work would solve this.

Working as intended, hopefully this will teach you to learn to play and do it to the other team next time.

Learn to read before trolling, the OP already stated he hates when the winner team stomps their enemies in their fountain, being on the winning side or not.

As for the topic, I just think that people should start thinking about mass disconnecting from the match. It's already a way Valve implemented for everyone, but not everyone uses it simply because they don't talk about it.

Fountain camping happens, man. Just get used to it. People will do it to you; you will do it to others. Don't take it personally or feel bad.

Sell all your crap. Buy a blink dagger and a TP scroll. Problem solved.

If you are too poor to buy a blink dagger then you deserve everything you get.

Take a look into the mirror! You think you are completely unfailable. With your limited knowledge, you think that you know more than someone who is very deep in the matter/an expert.
