  • RE: Valve's quest to make sure that players don't stop playing Dota 2

    MISSION FAILED

i uninstalled dota after 2 years and thousands of hours of fun with my friends and great memories. a huge motivating factor for me to strive and improve at dota 2 was the thirst for competition and the desire to hone my skill against others, and the ability to compare my statistics and numbers with theirs. that's now gone, thanks for catering to the lowest common denominator valve. i hope it works out for you. you've lost a customer and a longtime fan

they're doing too much shit trying to protect new players. Might as well give me an option to match with only the players who have shared their match history and profile.

They are trying to make a new system where there is no visible rating and only player skill matters - which all in all is a nice idea but sadly the MMR needs to be fixed in so many ways before you even get close to it. This is just starting from the wrong end. People will probably just get even more mad playing alone (or anything except a 5stack I guess) and just give up eventually like the OP, which is sad because I really like this game

There should at least be a TMM like matchmaking for solo players who wish to have their ratings visible etc to cater for the more competitive part of the community, cause let's be honest, 99.9999999% of us will never ever be in a pro team.

              +1

Honestly since most new players won't know they can reveal their stats + stats being disabled by default + players raging at their stats IF they're low + this new option, in the end most will just hide their stats "just because". So basically this will turn out to be the only game where there is a level system, a player rating and a match rating that are hidden. (I won't bring up the fact levels are ignored by the MM).
              Sigh...

Problem 3 months ago: Bad matchmaking placing inexperienced players in higher ranked games
Explanation: Toxic community! Flamers and ragers! We need a global muting system!
Problem 2 months ago: Bad matchmaking placing inexperienced players in higher ranked games, overall lower quality now that communication is deterred by mute penalties
Explanation: Same toxic people using ways to circumvent the mute system and abuse it on others! Several fixes made around that.
Problem 1 months ago: Bad matchmaking placing inexperienced players in higher ranked games, still a lack of communication and teamwork due to mute system deterrence.
Explanation: Rework of mute system to make it appear like an improvement, but remain still just as broken and abuseable.
Problem now: Bad matchmaking placing inexperienced players in higher ranked games, average game quality at its worst
Explanation: People are posting too many threads on games won by others! Hide that number! And add more hats!

Please stop whining about inexperienced players being put in higher ranked games honestly, as long as there are just one or two of them on each team I don't see what is the problem.

So you all want new players just to be paired with new players whole day long? Then how are they going to improve, and over the long run this will not help anything because the new players will still be new players and not experienced at all.

And you would fit riggght in with whoever is in charge of the mming here. You CANT mix and match skill lvls in this game. It doesnt work, plain and simple. It makes the game less enjoyable for everyone. ONE player can bring a whole team down.

How do decent players get better when having to worry about dead weights brought up unintentionally by anti-smurfing every single time?

More like this forum just lost another multiaccounter. I will never understand some of the people dedicated enough to keep posting the same stuff for months with multiple accounts.
