  • Create ranked matchmaking (visible mmr/ladder) and unranked matchmaking (hidden mmr)

This solution can help many aspects of the game. Why not have both a ranked matchmaking with visible stats and ladder along with unranked matchmaking with hidden mmr and hidden ladder? This system would also replace the current abandon system with an abandon threshold percentage (keep reading for details).

I feel this can be great for a lot of reasons. Players can join the unranked matchmaking and not have to worry about their mmr. These players will benefit by having a more casual play experience. Splitting matchmaking into unranked and ranked wound allow more competitive players to use ranked matchmaking so they can have a ladder system along with visible mmr. This too would allow players to see their stats like xp per min, gold per min, average wards placed per game, etc so there is a feeling of progression. Here's an example of the HoN ladder: http://www.heroesofnewerth.com/ladder/

By doing this you also could remove the abandon system and low priority queue. In its place would be an abandon threshold percentage. The percent could be set to something like 5%. If your abandon rate is above 5%, you must play unranked games to lower your abandonment percentage. Once you achieve less than 5% abandons, you would then be able to join ranked matchmaking again.

In my opinion this fixes several current issues and caters to many different ideologies regarding matchmaking. Hopefully you all feel the same.

The unranked matchmaking would be exactly as it is now. The ranked matchmaking would include visible mmr and a ladder. I don't see the downside.

Why would we split the matchmaking and community, again? There's no reason why someone can't just play casually and then be put with other casual players in the current MM. There's also no point in showing the actual MMR. Good day sir.

There's no point to play now because matchmaking sucks. This is really the only way you can go about it because trying to mix competitive with casual players will have catastrophic results. That's why CS:GO is split into the two forms and it's less than a tenth of Dota 2's population.

You're playing a 60 minute game. You can wait another couple minutes for queue to find people in a smaller pool.

77% of participants in the poll on the other thread actually would like to see their mmr. I'm not going to list the several reasons why people want it because it has been stated several times in other areas of this forum. My reasons are already listed in my original post.

Because there are many who want ranked matches.

Both HoN and LoL have separated matchmaking for ranked and unranked and they are doing very fine.
