  • Will Dota 2's numbers take the plunge after TI3?

I am unsure what the queue number is at with installing the game... but last week people were stoked about the game hitting 5M monthly active users (it is now 5.15M). Mac and Linux versions have been released so it's probably correct to assume that everyone that was coming for launch has arrived or just on the tail end of arrival.

TI3's viewership will mess with the concurrency numbers since people like their items, hate casters missing kills, and want to pad the "matches viewed" on their courier so they will be logging on to either watch or auto_spectate AFK and pad the numbers. Afterwards, assuming Valve doesn't fix their matchmaking problem by then, it's more likely than ever there's going to be an exodus. You can disagree with the problem but you can't disagree that it's the hottest topic and a lot more people are quitting over it. That only leaves the game's survival and momentum depending on the new players replacing everyone and their commitment level.
Yes. Ded gaem is ded. (- change in players)
No. It will drop after viewers leave but hit a steady equilibrium. (+/-0 change in players)
No. This game's popularity will continue increasing. (+ change in players)

Because anything specifically related to Dota 2 gets closed by Cymen or faustlim and pointed to here.

Also, that's exactly what I said in my post that viewers on Dota TV will give that spike. I'm talking about after when they've all cleared out.

use that posted graph as your guide. numbers will go really high, then fall back to the previous growth curve trend.
