  • How much they are really making in Internationals.

    Total Dota 2 Players
    5,937,005
    Current Players
    433,838
Peak as of 10 August, 2013
    471,921

    Dota 2 International Ticket
    $49.99
    Benaroya Hall seating
    est. 2,500
    $49.99 x 2,500 = $124,975

    Current Prize Pool
    $2,867,797
Compendium stats that for every purchase 2.50 will go straight to the prize pool.
    Starting prize pool was $1,600,000 + $1,267,797= $2,867,797
Base on $1,267,797 - about 507,118 players bought the compendium,
    now multiply 507,118 from original price $9.99 = $5,066,116
    Subtract the f(x) = $2.50 for profit.
    $5,066,116 - $2,867,797 = $2,198,319

$2,198,319 + in-game store + at event secret shop + online mercs + soo much more...
Soon this will be a $100 million dollar net worth game.
I just want to put it up there xD

Yet ONLY around 500,000 current players.
    Imagine soo many.

Make your own game and then TI for it if you're so jelous. Who cares how much they earn? They definitely earned it.
Also, why don't you substract money for:
    Benaroya hall
    electricity for the event
    equipment
    payment for staff
payment for players - food, merchandise, hotel, transport to Benaroya hall, etc
then taxes and shit like that

Do you even have a clue how much these things cost? And that's just for the TI3, nothing said about the costs of the company as a whole. It's really childish to think how much somebody earned without even working - you don't even know how earning money works.

LMFAO i am not complaining or anything negative...
I am not jealous of them hahaha...
I am commending them because they do such a good job doing all this.. i said $2,000,000 profit...
VALVe is a million dollar company, it is already taken care of ahead of time, payments and such...
I understand that and like most events, it is payed of ahead of time...

i am only saying that the profit they got from just the tickets, compendim, stores and such.

PS: I do not know where you got that negative vibe, even though i am not presenting it.
I never said they earned that money without working ahhaahahahahahah
      You have problems brah...

Where I got that negative vibe?
Well, in my country it's considered bad manners to count how much someone earns without that being your job. In other words - mind your own business.

I totally agree to that calculations. Note how the hall didn't cost anything to be rent, everyone working there (staff, employees preparing stuff, decorations, even cooks, interviewers and people working i nthe background) don't recieve any kind of salary. Also all the monitors, decorations, PC's, wires, cameras and god knows what else was completely free and Valve didn't have to pay for anything of that. Electricity, water, food, expenses for the players, salaries for people that give autographs, and even the server costs that such an even needs are absolutely free.

Well, it pretty much speaks for itself if you think it's normal to waste your time counting other's earnings. But then I guess you and the OP don't really have anything more productive to do

                  Retard
Who says they get all those for free?
OH YOU DID, even with that failed sarcasm.

Again, it is most likely that they already reserved that hall and paid ahead of time,
Like most gaming companies that holds tournament, they already made and planned their expenses and they already know how much they will pay.
So they keep certain money for the electricity bill and other expenses; in addition, events like this have sponsors!
Of course events like this will also have volunteers, working for free, but they also get free stuffs such as free entrance...

AGAIN, all i am saying is how much profit they are making for internationals.
Other extra expenses are already made and planned ahead of time and if they need extra it will come out of the profit they made...

Why would they hold a tournament if they cant even pay and planned ahead for the expenses?

This year the starting prize was 1.6 and bump it to 2.8 mil because of the f(x) = 2.50x compendium.
Compendium is selling 9.99, profit of 9.99 - 2.50 = 7.40 per person is the actual profit.

                  Sir =]

I understand that some countries its considered bad manners, i am only gathering stats here. i bet people in your country are also counting how much companies are worth nationwide - international - global etc...

Yawn, i found it interesting that they make that much money for just the Dota 2 brand, and that is excluding the money they get from shops and etc...
                  how is that bad manners?

Think about economics and business, and people who gather stats on how much people make...
                  you so ignorant-you ;D

As for you, it pretty much speaks for itself that you are wasting your time complaining about it, and that you don't have anything else more productive to do. Also, assume less, it makes you look like a jackass

Counting someone's money is not "time wasting", it's putting one's nose is other man's business. Clear signal of bad manners. Furthermore, You could ask and make the same points in a proper way, yet the first thing person sees is "how much do they make". So both what you ask and how you ask is inappropriate even for trashforum, not to mention business communication to which you refer.

"Why would they hold a tournament if they cant even pay and planned ahead for the expenses?"

                      To promote dota2?
To show how much they value competitiveness of dota2?
Cos they think it would help the game to evolve?
To signal how important it is for them?

                      And the most important one:
Cos they can? Cos the man "with the button" feels like it?
You're only as strong as your weakest link.
