They can't ban ip, as well it's been discussed anyone now a days knows how to change it. You can't ban their steam account either, as steam is a platform for other games as well and just because he was banned on DOTA he should still have access to his other games. My opinion on this is that they should implement a MAC address ban that checks it every time you connect to DOTA network, or just create accounts that are independent to steam so you can ban those without banning the steam account.

i am pretty sure there is a way to lock certain games on your steam account. there are many online rpgs on steam (granted they also have normal account registration) but as far as i am aware they just ban your account from said game if you made an offense towards the games rules

Just ban their Steam profiles from joining the Dota 2 server and lock down all their Dota 2 merch. If that doesn't work, hardware profile bans. Not hard.

I mean, now I have to deal with people with 1k+ matches courier feeding, which goes to show how toothless the current punishment system is.

Well, Dota 2 for me is becoming more and more less of a game to play and more of one that is fun to watch only(given ti3) Watching games and plays is great, but when you go to play, you find out that you are matched with morons, idiots, trolls, racists, sexists, KIDS(cannot emphasize this one enough, would like to know the age of most of people online), name-calling assholes, who would call you and the rest of the team, names to try and hide their own incompetence, it is just not fun anymore.

One of the last games I had, we got a BM with us, he DC'd and then after sometime reconnected and started to buy flying couriers(I counted 7) and sending them to enemy team, to feed. We reported etc and told the opposing team in all chat and they were nice about it and reported as well, but there was this one tusk player (on their team) who said "chill, it is just a game"(not the first time I hear this "chill" strategy, apparently it is a thing) and then said "go play LOL if you want to rage"

I never touch lol, cod(I don't even call that a game) and the such, but I am sure that the Dota 2 community is the worst community in all of gaming(you know the ones I am talking about) .
