Nope the fans who bought the 9million dollars of compediums. You know only 1/3 went to the prize pool. They raised $2.8 million for the prize pool so valve have another 5.6 million dollars for hosting/running the show and then profit on the side. This is not even adding up the money they made on Ticket sales etc.

American's have the same problem with trying to watch the following LAN tournaments; DreamHack, G1, Super League, Raidcall EMS One, Star Ladder, Alienware Cup, ECL, ASUS Open, The Asia. USA gets one LAN tournament and I already see a thread of people bitching about the location of the tournament. Deal with it. USA can't even get one LAN tournament without a thread of people complaining about it.. unbelievable.

inb4 someone mentions its the biggest tournament of the year. True and it's the only LAN tournament in the USA. start saving your money, maybe you can make it to TI5.
Now compare how many people who play Dota are in Europe compared to the USA. --->

Take a look into the mirror! You think you are completely unfailable. With your limited knowledge, you think that you know more than someone who is very deep in the matter/an expert.

Who do you think paid for everything else? Including the taxes for those monetary prizes the teams won? That's right, Valve did.

Nope. You don't seem to understand Valve is a company. They made a profit from this tournament through the fans. If there was no profit to be made then they would of found sponsors like other tournament have done to turn a profit (Ad revenue) Valve did not do this since they make so much from the fans....

Btw it3 does not have to show profit, the effect of a such a huge event should easily make it worthwhile for them on the long run, and since all of you already taken you hats off could i interest you in selling you a couple ?
