  • Fix your broken report system

I had a player intentionally feed for 20 deaths by just walking up to enemy hero's and sitting their and I reported him for feeding and he reports me for complaining for him to stop feeding and I get a 24 hour mute. I'm going to assume nothing happened to him for intentionally feeding 20 times, so why does steam allow this?

    1. You don't get muted because of a single report. Only if you are a repeat offender, so don't act innocent.
    2. How can you possibly assume nothing happened to him when you think you got instantly punished from a single report?

Shadow you are just looking to be an opponent for the sake of argument and I ask you refrain from typing. If I was on the other team I would report a feeder no matter what.

No Sven in the game you linked. And they guy with the most deaths have 8 deaths.

You reported for a legitimate reason (in your eyes), they reported for a legitimate reason (in their eyes). How is ShadowReturns an opponent for the sake of argument? Don't post here if you only want people that agree with you to reply.

Shadowreturns I'm sorry but I just feel like you would want everyone to report this guy as well if it happened in your game

Idiot.... You surely wouldn't want to have that guy in your team, would you? If he's a legitimate feeder/griefer, why wouldn't you report him?

EDIT: What's the punishment when you're getting legitimately reported for feeding btw? Never happened to me and I want to know if it's of any use to actually report them.

And of course later in the night I can't tell my team AM is not able to solo bot lane with a necro who was leveling heartstopper aura or do more then 3 pings so I end up playing on a game with complete noobs and no ability to tell them I need help or they need to gank, the report system does as much harm as it does good. I had a invoker who sat mid that did a total of zero ganks, lost tower first still somehow and nyx and davion sitting top feeding.

The replay is unavailable, but yeah that game seems to make more sense.
Whether we would've reported him too or not (I know I would) kinda is irrelevant. The question is whether the Sven was in the right reporting you, and he very much was as with the current system it's the community that decides what's reportable. Could be the Sven had some guy in his previous game whining about reporting him for all the wrong reasons, or he just hates when people ask you to report in all chat. That is perfectly fine for him to think, even though you disagree.

Bottom line, don't ask the other team to report your teammates. They rarely listen, all in all I'm sure it's a higher chance it backfires than actually helping you.

Finally, chat wheel still works when muted. If they don't listen to you asking for help there, they probably wouldn't if you wrote the same thing in chat.

Pretty confident it's LPQ for some time period depending on if it's your first offense or not. Probably something similar to how mute duration is graded.

He was just trolling along with the team being the typical dota 2 flaming nerd that makes you question society's future, "hes not feeding" and "im going to report you for reporting" is what got me muted.

That, and the other reports in your name.

Whether something is allowable under the current system or not does not mean it should be done or is "perfectly fine for him to think." People can, and should, be held accountable for their ability to be logical and reasonable, or in many cases their inability to do be thus. However, that is somewhat irrelevant since the main thrust of this topic (and too many like it on this forum and others) is that the system is broken. Since what the Sven did was allowed by the system, clearly it is broken.

Also, your contention that people should not ask the other team to report your teammates is dubious considering that a single report does little good in the current system. If someone is obviously feeding, I want him gone for my sake and for the sake of others that may have to play with him. I don't want him getting any more battle points or items from his feeding in the meantime before he gradually racks up enough reports to go into LPQ. The reasonable solution is to lay out your case for your teammates and opponents and request their help.
