  • Implement a Timeout for Professional tournament

    Hi Dota 2 Development,

Im a fan/player in dota and dota 2 with almost 8 years experience

After watching most of the Dota 2 Professional's tournament. I realise that dota 2 is lack of something like having a 3min time-out and let the player cool down and think of a better strategy to counter the strategy that what was aready made beforehand. Which made the game seems to be fair.

For example uring a basketball game , when a basketball team was on-form during that day. The other team coaches will call for a time-out and tell their player on ground what was happening. Implement a counter strategy. And to our surprise , most of this time-out actually works and gain back the points and lead to victory. and it made the game much more fair and interesting.

    Gameplay:

I don't mean like pause during a 5v5 team engaging. Thats totally unfair. >>>>Tactical pause

Maybe there's a UI's button like when no hero engaging in the map for 10-15sec, The team's leader call all hero back to base and press the timeout button.

    15 min cooldown for every timeout. Early: 15:00 Mid - 30:00 Late - 45:00 .... so on

Maybe we can/cannot brought forward the timeout

The timeout is not a must to use.

    Pros:
    A Better Gameplay
    Interesting strategy or counter strategy
to let the professional to think of gameplan than blindly see things happening
More interesting game for viewer like us
Can go for toilet break =D

    Cons:
    Waste time
Bad for team that created new strategy

*Please comment if you have more Pros&Cons?

    Conclusion:

So I hope that we could bring dota 2 to another level of gaming and another level of gameplay. Confirmation the level of fairness. We could educate ourself like plan before doing anything in life. In future of dota 2 , I have a feeling that 10 years down the road. People wont be sitting down in cafe or club just to watch soccer , basketball. They will be watching Dota 2 instead. It will be a world wide game. Maybe we will have World dota 2 Cup every 4 years. haha

    That's all.

    Thanks

    GV.Sobro555

in basketball you can change player if your strat don't come good, in dota you can't change heroes. in dota you have timeout when you're dead. in basketball you don't have dead timer.
BAD person is someone who only think that he/she is a pro and others are noob and then blame the Matchmaking challenge.
GOOD person is someone who accept the Matchmaking challenge and succeeded getting a teamwork in his/her team

For ti14, that would be kinda nice. Rather a halftime around 20 minutes.

If both captain comes to a consensus that they want a 10-15 break, it could make dota look alot more professional. Or something.

People can go and get prepared or special airing of something.

Sure it can ruin gameflow or gamesense, but the captains have to agree for a timeout.

how about no? in "basketball" they have a time out so they can discuss and rest because they 1) were running up and down for the past I dont know how many mins 2) cant team chat during a game. Also in dota, you dont come up with plans. Plans are only for the draft phase because during the game the only plan is to get the advantage over your enemies mistakes.

Get out of normal tier, or listen to some pro interviews (or even watch the pro games if you can be attentive). "Also in dota, you dont come up with plans," is one of the most ridiculous things I've heard today.

Yes, because it's all about the viewers (especially the most impatient viewers). I do not understand the attitude (and it is far and away not just you) that sports, and Dota 2 in particular, should be tweaked to be more flashy. To me it seems to always makes sports more shallow.

Yup! all about the viewers. People already don't like waiting for pauses.
That's not me by the way. I'm blessed with the alt and tab buttons.

Also I find it pointless when its the captains job to be constantly checking the game state and tell the players what should be happening. They don't need a time out for that.

I do agree with you about timeouts though. In Dota 2 captains have the ability to monitor the playing field and communicate with teammates in a way that captains in traditional sports cannot.

I really enjoy all these fake pros like you but sadly enough I wont lose any more time trying to explain what you are doing wrong with your tryhard 5man pubstack Just a tip. In a competitive game, players NEVER talk to each other unless they have something important to say such as a miss or "im pulling".

I'm confused. Is this sarcasm or simply bullshit? oO

Guys, Let's just contribute something more to bring the future generation of dota to another level . instead of giving lousy comment. Just suggest something relevant ? Scolding ppl fake pros or tryhard are simply childish and immature in some sense. .

Let me give some example :

Hi, I would like to suggest a 30 sec timeout instead of a 3 min timeout.

This kind of suggestion is appreciated and relevant.

I hope we could work on it.

Maybe what I said is hurtful to you. But is true that what u said was purely immature. And ur tips is just rubbish to certain extend. I was wondering have you played competitive game like tournament and competition b4? Are you considering yourself as "Pros" with ur mouth and keyboard warrioring through your games? You sure you play dota 2?? , With Strategy?? or just blindly shouting : Skill !!! Skills you fucking noob ? sMashing your keyboard in-front of ur monitor?

I really enjoy all these true baddies like you that talk about stuff they know nothing about, making themselves look like idiots.

OT: I'm open for it, but I think it would have to be short. Under a minute or something. There is already more than enough pauses.
