  • Give players the ability to choose who they get matched with.

I know the blacklist thing has been brought up before but I really feel it needs to be mentioned again so it can hopefully be worked into the next patch. I really feel like empowering players by allowing them to choose who they get matched up with is the way forward because of one simple thing . . . accountability. Right now in Dota 2 when you play badly or you flame other members the largest punishment you are going to face is getting muted for a few hours or put in the low priority pool for a couple of matches which just honestly from my experience in the game isn't really much of a deterrent. But if players knew that if they behaved badly in game whether it be playing badly or saying bad things, other players would simply stop playing with them then I'm sure we would see a marked improvement in player behaviour, bad players would take longer to get matched because people would constantly be blacklisting them and players who behave well would have a far better experience. Even if the blacklisting was not permanent but instead only lasted a month or so. Valve is always talking about how it appreciates player feedback well why not allow players to say I don't want to play with this person again.

So you'd rather try to blacklist thousands of 'bad players' instead of just finding a few (probably less than 10 to have enough to consistently form party) people to add to your friend list?

If you're going to pass the responsibility of finding 'peer' for you to someone/something else, don't start complaining when they match you with what they think is your 'peer'.
Every time someone make a false report.
Making people's losses feel worse with just my name (don't ask me how it work, I certainly don't)

Currently observed Orb(Unique Attack Modifiers), Critical, and Bash interactions for DotA2

    To:
People who cry MM isn't fair: Maybe you're not as great as you make yourself to be.
People who wants surrender: It exists, but I'm not teaching you how to do it.

Yeah because it's so easy finding 4 other people who are of: the same skill, play at the same times, play with the same frequency etc., good job buddy you thought that one through real good. I'd rather match making matched me with players of the correct skill and I didn't have to do anything but since that isn't possible I'll settle for a blacklist system. I'm suppose to sink money into the game buying misc items but I'm not suppose to complain when I don't like how the game works you sound like a valve knight bud.

You do know my post mentions " probably less than 10", and not "only 4"? It's not like you're forming a team to compete in tournament, it's fine to just make a bunch of friends and queue together with any that's on at the time.

I'd rather match making matched me with players of the correct skill and I didn't have to do anything but since that isn't possible I'll settle for a blacklist system.
        Again:
"If you're going to pass the responsibility of finding 'peer' for you to someone/something else, don't start complaining when they match you with what they think is your 'peer'."

I'm suppose to sink money into the game buying misc items but I'm not suppose to complain when I don't like how the game works you sound like a valve knight bud.
You don't have to? The game neither promotes the buying of misc items nor are they of any gameplay benefits, so why you claim buying cosmetics is some sort of obligation is beyond me.
I mean, you can buy all the cosmetics you want but it won't somehow make you better at the game.

Let's say your proposal is implemented, and the blacklist lasts one month.
I can imagine a scenario where you basically cycle through a month's worth of 'bad players', constantly having to re-blacklist them when you find them again.
Every time someone make a false report.
Making people's losses feel worse with just my name (don't ask me how it work, I certainly don't)

He has a point. I would happily 'ban' feeders, newbies, and idiots from being matched with me. I wanna play with skilled players, not idiots who has no clue about last hitting nor supporting or carrying.

Sometimes I have a good day, sometimes I have a bad day. Would you rather ban me for those (very few) bad days or play with me on a good day?

              This.

I got matched one game and played terrible.
The next game I played with the same person again and did great.

This is not going to happen. Ever. Not in MM at least. The Dota 2 community is one of the most toxic and easily angered communities in the gaming community as a whole. If you give the community the power to personally pick who they play with they will either:

                1) Ban players they feel are better than them, reducing the chance to lose...
                2) Ban players they feel are worse than them, and we all know the mindset of the majority of the community is "I am better than 95% of the playerbase", which would result in having 30-40 minute search queues since you've banned almost every damn person in the game.

Either way, I'm closing this. There is already a banlist thread up in the Misc section, we don't need another. Here it is.
