It's going to be impossible with Volvo.

People have been trying to do it. Like this one. This one is the most recent victim. It was shut down few hours ago.

e-sport has little to do with in-game ladder or out of game ladder among all the players.
a game is an e-sport because of tournaments and such.
Dota 2 IS one of the biggest e-sport games atm.

I don't think you could deduce Valve's philosophy down to anything else other than this: They want to go for the lowest common denominator in the general gaming player base. If you give people a platform to compare themselves with the best, they might not respond so well when they realize they're not a decent rating and probably not going to get there. All you're left with is an arbitrary number that you can't tell is bad or good unless you spammed around asking.

I'm also guessing they must've had a really big scare with players not playing the game anymore because of the 'toxic community' that prompted the immediate implementation of their half-baked mute system. (back when it was so easy to get muted) Eventually if someone did make a website that you could just tab to and easily punch in the names of the players you're grouped with and against you could get the numbers of everybody. And then two things would happen:
              - "Really, Volvo?" topics would spring up all over the place, providing screenshots of your team which has generally lower MMR numbers while the enemy team's is higher or closer together.
              - Volvo's greatest fear of people using numbers as a form of argument. If someone on your team pointed out that your MMR was the lowest, you'd probably get harassed into taking the least impacting role of the game or reported. Obvious result would be at least one player getting mad and throwing.

If they tied it to the Share Match History option I'm not sure that would be an issue. If your profile is public, people can already alt-tab to Dotabuff and proceed to shitpost / shit-talk about your 200 wins and 42% win rate - they already do and that's why Valve added an option to hide your match history. Why would this be any different?
