  • Non-English speakers in Ranked Games (or other preferred languages)

When I first found out that Ranked Matchmaking was coming to Dota 2, I waited with glee because I knew that it would mean better quality of games. And I was correct, most of the time, even when we lose, the game is good and fun because your team members are on the same level of skill as you.

    However,

If Ranked Matchmaking is intended for those who are more serious about winning games in Dota 2, what are Valve going to do to prevent premade parties of players queuing for games when they do not speak the language in the Preferences? This kind of practice needs to be something you can legitimately report someone for, as it is ruining ranked games. I am tired of being called a "CYKA" or "GRINGO NOOB" before the game has even started, purely because I speak English, which, you know, is generally the spoken language when you select English on your preferences.

I know this thread is going to get locked/deleted/flamed but I really wanted to let off some steam, as I'm sick and tired of this, and its not the kind of idiocy I expect in Ranked Play.

tl;dr: Valve, stop players selecting languages they cant speak in Preferences.

How is Valve supposed to know how many languages you actually speak?

If they made an option to report someone for refusing to speak in the preferred language, people would me less likely to do so out of fear of low priority.

Also found this on the Dota 2 blog under "What makes a good match?"

"6. Players’ language preferences contains a common language. Lack of a common language among teammates’ language preferences is strongly avoided. Lack of a common language across the whole match is also avoided, but less strongly."

Lack of a common language among teammates’ language preferences is strongly avoided - but Valve are doing nothing to enforce it.

Lol, so now the foreigners are the racists ones? hahahahahahahahhaha yeah for sure.... X)
Make a NON automated report system.
I would rather wait 10 minutes for a balanced, fun and exciting match that will last 1+ hours. Than wait 10 seconds for a poorly balanced crapmatch that will end in 30- minutes
Valve, How I'm I supposed to respect certain boundaries to prevent a mute if I dont know them because they are different for each and every person on each and every game I play?
The only type of player that dislikes having his stats public are the players that suck and cheaters

So you are saying that valve has magic superpowers and knows exactly which languages its players speak?
Yesterday i watched stream from quite good russian pro player 5800+, he was in party with 3 other russians, and language settings where set: english, spanish, portuguese, server setings all 3 europe servers.
Ofc language preferences where nonsense, but valve doesn't have esper power too.

Actually, they do. If they just put in another report option "Invalid Language" they can begin cracking down on foreigners who join US games spamming mics and "TEAM ES NOOB" while doing nothing but feeding. I don't care if they're shit at dota. Just let them be shit on the other team, not mine. Put them with the other people from their region.
