  • Just another point about the MMR

Can someone give me ONE, only ONE good reason why MMR counts rating for games with a leaver? Why should my rating get fucked if I have a raging russian in my team? HE should be the one penalized, the rest of his teammates should be spared ANY point deduction.

ONE fucking good reason. Just one.

Because in case of a loss you would toss a coin and someone would tank an abandon for the team.
This way you would never lose points again.

Wasn't that why the shared abandon penalty was introduced tho?
I mean, if that is working fine, tanking abandon is not a good strategy since the whole party will end up in low priority.

Nothing is working fine in this game. One system eradicates another and so on.

The reason is that they won't make punishments a lot harsher. Hence, any player on the losing team can simply abandon and save his MMR, play easiest bot games instead of LPQ games for 30 minutes, and he can rinse and repeat. This way, barely any MMR change would occur for anyone as the masses would abandon games. And Valve won't make abandon punishments harsher since they can happen due to Valve server issues as well as other connection/technical difficulties.

A step in the right direction would be to force LPQ games to be with people, but then if there are extremely few people in LPQ, you might not even be able to get rid of your punishment for days/weeks. Although I guess it would help if LPQ queues didn't consider MMR or language preferences but instead would match any 10 players - that way you could quickly play your punishment games and they could be pretty bad (bad ping, language barrier, skill difference > stomp > frustration). This actually sounds nice

Yes, true. It's likely that OP usually queues solo though, because that's what people who create these kind of threads do.

@Katsarouhls: Why aren't you banned for multiaccounting yet?

You think you are so smart right? I asked a mod to ban my other account, and made this new one because of the name.

Like a few people mentioned, I mean in solo queue. When in party, the "tanking abandon" strat could be prohibited by making the penalty apply to all the party members. The leaver and all his party members should get a dramatic MMR deduction, like -100 or something like that. There's no way someone would be so valiant as to "tank an abandon" for his team when solo, unless he is Kevin Costner or Batman. The rest should not have to pay for the leaver's fault. I just played 3 games in a row where someone left in the first 10 minutes and we lost rating because of him. It's very frustrating.

There's a lot of ways the MMR system is flawed and unfair. However this one point is my greatest complaint. I don't understand it at all.

Oh, cool. Sorry, for the false accusation.

Read the rules. You're here for way longer then a year and you're well aware of the matchmaking stickies. Warning.
