  • Is smurf detection real?

What if I want to make a new steam account all together? I don't even want a new account for dota2. I am just tired of all the game I dont play on my library and I want to start fresh. Will it detect my steam account and give me my old stats back?

If you ask me i think smurf detection is the source of all the rage in this forum and the game altogether. If a new player snowballs with a hero naturally and gets picked up by smurf detection after a few games, they will be at a much higher skilled game and have no idea of what playing dota is all about besides that one hero.
    Spoiler:
    I guard the rear.

You wont get your old stats, you'll be starting fresh, from the tutorial games (10 games with bots, etc..)

LOL giving you your old stats back, now that would be something. Smurf detection is very real, but IRL person detection is not.

"smurf detection" is just a term some people have applied to the MM algorithm giving your personal stats more weight during your first bunch of games

I think smurf detection got toned down though. Before RMM got introduced, I didn't see <10-game players getting placed at the highest tiers of MM..
