  • Reduce Punishment for NON RANKED Matches

Why do we still have severe low pop rules for non ranked matches...they are now in contrast to ranked...so therefore they are unranked. I haven't played in a little bit cause of work....I get on and right as I start a game I gotta go...I quit. Instantly in low pop. wtf. Now we also have party SECONDARY abandon...what the?!?!?

How many interesting ways to be have to come up with to punish the player?

DOTA with this low pop, reporting, and now the INABILITY TO QUIT A GAME save you close dota 2 is getting retarded. Make the non RANKED matches for fun matches....you can quit...you can drop....you do it all day long you get low pop but let loose this ninja grip you have on the punishment whip.

Maybe not remove low pop from reports or EXCESSIVE quitting but if I play 20 games a dota in a week...and I quit 2-3 of them get the hell off my back. Its not ranked!!!! This game is becoming too damn serious with all these "make the community better rules". All its accomplishing is making the game punish you when heavens forbid something more important comes up then a video game. Maybe you know for sure the game is lost cause you have 4 Russians on your team yelling "f*** you american" or some no chat/no voice person who just feeds....

Sometimes the game is freaking over.

LET THE FANBOYS PROCEED WITH DEFENDING ludicrous POLICIES....By fanboys my definition is "those who blindly defend with no sense of understanding of opposing arguments"

I have been playing MOBA since before it was called MOBA!!! since SC1....AoS and DoTa AllStars for FT. DOTA 2 has constantly gotten more and more way to controlled of an environment and filtered. Strangling the origins of the game....stop this death grip of trying to appease the few who cry!

Dont start a game if you cant finish it.
The rules are made exactly to keep I-dont-give-a-shit people like you out of our games.
You quit 2-3 games out of 20?? Low Priority is exactly where you belong!

That is going way too far even as a joke.
If you are not going to give high priority to the games you are about to play, then you shouldn't be playing in the high priority pool. People are queuing for a game of 5v5 dota, ranked or not.

The world is black and white. On one side there are those who are right, complain about valve, spam unhelpfully and everyone who disapprove what you are doing are obviously valveknights.

The irony. Your fix to your problem is severly flawed. If they would reduce/remove the punishment for unranked games there would be a lot of leavers. This is not a solution.

I understand your argument, its you who doesnt seems to understand the reason for the punishments.

If anything I think the punishments in ranked should be INCREASED (doubled or tripled). Why? Yeah I AGREE now non ranked games could be considered as "for fun"

But still, people come in to the game when they have time to play and the mood to do it. Lets say I want to have fun with a couple of friends that dont know much about DotA, I go and play non ranked game...but that doesnt means I expect the game to finish in 10 mins because someone didnt have enough planning ahead (10 minutes ahead) to realize he didnt have any more time than that.

Work? You cant play because of work? Let me tell you what being busy means: I study full time, have a part time job and I'm an scout leader on saturdays (and it takes a lot more time than just the saturday) And I dont come to play DotA when I'm in the middle of work, or in the middle of study, or when im about to go camping in 45 mins. Why? Because I can plan and say "Yeah okay....a DotA game can last anything between 20 to 80 mins...do I have 80 mins to play now? no? I'll play later" If you cant do that much then I dont see why you complain about low prio.

Do you even know what low prio means? It merely means you take a bit longer to find a match and you are more likely to be matched with people who are in low prio too (hence, people who do and think the same as you do)

              EDIT:
              Example.
And I just got an example X) Dinner is gonna be in 45 mins, and I really feel like playing DotA, but 45 mins might not be enough for a game, so I'll just be a sensible and civilized person and restrain myself. You should try those 2 things: Planning ahead and self control

Make a NON automated report system.
I would rather wait 10 minutes for a balanced, fun and exciting match that will last 1+ hours. Than wait 10 seconds for a poorly balanced crapmatch that will end in 30- minutes
Valve, How I'm I supposed to respect certain boundaries to prevent a mute if I dont know them because they are different for each and every person on each and every game I play?

OP, you should try low priority; that's just how the run it there. In LPQ, you can abandon as much as you want!

It should be like this double punishment for Non Ranked and Triple Punishment for ranked games.

Abandon in Ranked 30 games low , un ranked 20 games low.

Until your internet drops and you get low prio and come here crying "this punishment is shit".

Logic of most dota players : This doesn't happen to me => make the punishment bigger . This happens to me => remove punishment plz. You're not alone. Learn tovrespect non-russians please(funny , right? Can't stand these jerks). I do admit my racism towards them IN dota ONLY. And you know why ? Because they did this by themselves.

If that happens then it's my fault and I deserve it.

Do you know how many games get the axe because some one abandons?

Basic math time. OP doesnt quit on 90% of matches. With 10 people in game, assuming similar behavior the chance of no quitters is 0.9^10=0.348 -> ~35% chance of not getting a quitter. That doesnt sound right to me at all.

No reason to really be any less strict on abandons than what Valve already is.

In other MOBA you are temporary banned/permabanned. Dota 2 punishment system is a little bit too forgiving.
(And in these MOBAs you actually lose your whole progress. In Dota 2 you can just put your items on a secondary account. The only thing you really lose is your Dota 2 level which does nothing after level 15. (Ranked MM unlocked.)
In LoL for example if you play 4 games a day for 1.5 years (might be even longer now) you still cannot afford every champions and runes.)

                            1+

I also think the punishments should be more harsh (particularly in ranked) But thing is, in those mobas the reports are actually reviewed, and they have well defined rules and guidelines.

In here you are automatically punished.

So I would encourage the system to be more harsh, ONLY if it was improved and reviewed by people
