  • What exactly is the point of VAC?

Just played a match in the 1900 bracket vs someone whos profile said they had a VAC ban in the last 7 days? He is russian and only owns 4 games, im pretty sure dota 2 is the only one he has which has VAC (correct me if wrong).

VAC Slogan is "because nobody likes playing with cheaters"

so what exactly is that slogan doing for me?

VAC only bans players from playing the game they got cheating in. It means that this person has hacked in the past and has been banned from playing the game that game on that account for it.

He was most likely banned for hacking in Rust due to the high level of hackers in that game as well as the fact that Dota 2 is near impossible to hack due to the server-client structure that the game uses. The server doesn't send you the information about an enemy hero unless you have line of sight on them.

I don't know. VAC perma bans from all (respective) VAC games except for Dota 2. In Dota 2, it is just a 30 day ban. I don't know why and I don't support it either.

If he is banned in CS GO he won't be able to play only CS GO but he can play other games, also VAC in Dota 2 bans on 30 days not perma.
Thank you IceFrog, Valve and Dota 2 team for everything you doing for Dota 2 community.

Okay I didn't know rust had VAC. that explains it.

About the 30 day thing --- wouldn't matter because it said 7 days since last ban. but it was probably rust

I've definitely seen a bunch of profiles with VAC bans but somehow they're still playing Dota... idk what's the logic in that =/

yes thats the 1st time. If you get cough again, you will be perma vac banned and since dota2 has no dedicated servers (yet) this also means you lose dota2 for that acc. (you cant play anymore)
If you find spelling errors, you are free to take them.

So random Joe uses cheat programs. Gets vac banned for 30 days. Moves to a new account with all his items. Repeat.

                Nice.

Being VAC banned in TF2 causes you to lose the ability to trade TF2 items, I'm surprised Dota 2 doesn't also do this.

It takes a specific individual to even consider cheating for reasons i could never understand, i guess they are desperate to win at the expense of others or they simply want to ruin the experience of others, doesn't make much difference in the end, it has less to do with that one time he was caught cheating and more with his personality, that won't change just because he got banned in one game and free to play others.

Actually i like the 30 day ban for first offense, and of course all his cosmetics should get account locked and existing keys would give account locked items as well, but that 30 day ban should not be only for one game but for all online play, next offense would be 90, then a year.

Not true, this is how it works:

You can still play other VAC games, but it will still show the VAC-ban on your profile.
