  • how do things work in normal MM?

    my level : 50
the number of games I've played in NMM: 40-50 games in 2 weeks
what I noticed : I get matched with people whom are level 46+ and higher (reached 210 sometime)
Is the level thingy random or we get matched with people whom have same level as us?

Level only has a correlation to the number of games played, thus not very related to skill. Which is why it is not used at all for matchmaking.

Which is precisely why their system is so stupidly flawed. Newer players go Riki and pub stomp because people don't believe in dust/wards. Then they get bumped to the 400+ games club where they get schooled for not fault of theirs.

Great job folks. It's all good.

People aren't matched based on their number of games, they're matched based on their skill. So if you're getting "newer players" you're simply as bad as them.

so its normal that i play with people who got 100 wins and with people who have 900+?
i got 600 wins and i think that this gap is too huge imo.

The number of games is pretty much irrelevant. The gap isn't too big at all, perfectly possible that the player of a 100 games account is a better player than someone with 3000 games.

because valve totally knows the skill of everyone. if it's not based on the number of games, then what is it based on?
if a level 100 guy gets matched with a level 20 guy, he is NOT by all accounts as bad as him. that is the most stupid argument i've heard.

More level means nothing you could find a guy who is the super captain monchito with his father credit card who spend all day buying Exp Booster and he is more than lvl 300 , without even the half of my games or my time in game ...so the acc level mean nothing if you want to find something relevant , take a look on the hours spended in game.

i meant to refute "Inritus" as he said that you are as bad as the people you play with.
yes, it is true that someone who has a lot of exp boosters can level up more easily.
however, my original point is that if you have more experience and you get placed with noobs that does not mean you are as bad as them.
also, your point about hours spent in the game is flawed as i can just afk in the main menu.

How well they perform against enemies at near their own rating. It's pretty much how every single rating system works ...
The only reason it's a "stupid argument" is because you don't know how it works, like at all.

The only metric you're matched based on is your rating, if you're matched with noobs it's because the system considers you to be as bad as them. That you have finished more games (or bought more boosters) doesn't mean you're better. Experience doesn't scale linearly with skill, and it scales far from similar for everyone.

so how come some good players who have obviously more skill get matched with noobs? if the system consider them to be the same level, then the system is abysmal; which is true.

im totaly agreed with you , but since the Ranked show , noobs have been migrated to everywhere no matter what , i have never experience games like the ones im geting on ranked. and i repeat i think the same way as you do , and that makes me keep thinking ... im that bad? and i realize that after 4000hours of dota i cant be that bad i was a bad player back then in Dota 1 but i spend 9 years lerning how to play the game , and then i improve my skills at dota 2 , i still have alot of learn and improve , but Come on .. im not that bad.. this game turn realy stupid since the release of the ranked system... i repeat i have never meet worst players on the history of dota 2 before the Ranked system...
