    Ranks

    Lets make up visible ranks for other dota players to see in our ranked profiles.

    Ranks made up by certain goals that the player will strive for. I play ranked mm, I am a scrub, 3.7-4k player.
    I would love to see other player accomplishments ingame without checking their dota profile, dotabuff profile etc.

    The rank, is shown in your dota profile. Maybe on your profile picture, maybe over games played. It could be a
    color effect transparent in the (ranked)profile. The rank is also displayed ingame with a banner. The banner would fly from
    the walls in our base and correspond to player/rank. It could also be displayed as a banner on our towers.

    I think it would be cool to have ranks that display your overall performance/knowledge/skill in dota and give you a target to strive for.

    Lets say this is a players number of heroes above a certain winrate summed up on all heroes. Now, this force players on all
    levels to play heroes outside their comfort zone.

    Minimum requirement on number of games you have to play on each hero to be eligible is set to 10.

    Recruit : 30 heroes Above 50 % winrate

    Lieutenant: 30 heroes above 50 % winrate, 10 heroes above 55% winrate

    Captain : 50 heroes above 50 % winrate, 30 heroes above 55% winrate, 10 heroes above 60% winrate

    Major: 80 heroes above 50 % winrate, 50 heroes above 55% winrate, 20 heroes above 60% winrate

    Colonel: 102 heroes above 50 % winrate, 70 heroes above 55% winrate, 30 heroes above 60% winrate

    General : 102 heroes above 55 % winrate, 90 heroes above 60 % winrate, 30 heroes above 65% winrate

    The ranks criteria is extremely flexible and should only be considered as an example.

    I have 41 eligible heroes over 50%

    I have 21 eligible heroes over 55%

    I have 16 eligible heroes over 60%

    I am currently a Lieutenant. To climb up to the rank Captain ( and get a new cool HUD/Banner/glow ) I need to improve 9 heroes
    for the 50% winrate, and I need to improve 9 heroes for the 55% winrate.

    So lets compare my rank with some random players in the community.

    The banner or profile also get a special glow from win streaks. I would protect my flag or banner flying from that Tier 1 tower
    AT ALL COSTS if I had a special glow to it. If I saw it on an enemy tower I would try hard to kill it!

    Win streaks:

    5 Golden glow
    10 Platinum glow
    15 Diamond glow

    Came in expecting a different kind of ranks. Gotta be honest, good idea. Nothing to add but that I would vote for it.

      I would like to see something of this nature implemented.
      Because MMR is only a number.

      I think you need to re-think some things though, to implement some ideas so the Ranks can be more accurate.

      because its really easy for people to get 50-60% winrates on heros.

      For example,
      I have a 83% winrate as Sven....... with 6 games.
      Oh and I have a 100% winrate as Razor..... in 5 games.
      I have like 10 heros with 100% winrates with less than 5 games each.
      See what I mean? the ratios early on can be skewed a lot.

      So I say put in a requirement that a player must have 20 games plus as this hero before it can be contributed to your "rank"

              Knew a low level like you would say that. There is a distinct correlation between skill and level. Ofcourse some noob low level like you would deny that ofcourse. Get on our high level master race time.

                Good idea but there needs to be a minimum games played or you will get people with 10games and 100% win rates.

                  Well, my point is that Valve already has something of similar significance. You could say this also doesn't truly represent skill, but I would say it was more similar.
                  @OP: This won't hit the dota 2 client, but it is an interesting idea. You should ask dotabuff about it, they would be the place to go if you wanted this to happen.

                        So according to your system, I am worse off compared to a year earlier?

                        Your system completely misses the point that people's most played heroes, no matter how great they are, will eventually fall between the 45-60% rate because of the sheer number of games played. You also have to take into account solo queue players will have even lower rates than party queue players due to factors beyond their control.

                        For example, compare a person with 20 wins and 5 losses on a hero (80%), to another person with 200 wins and 133 losses on that same hero (60%), assume same MMR, who do you think is likely better with that hero?
                        If they are about the same, then why the difference in win rate?

                        Fun fact: You can be both the 80% guy and the 60% guy 1 year later.

                            i´d like to have some kind of dotabuff integrated to the game instead of having to go to dotabuff when i wanna see all my stats. dota just shows u garbage win/loss and mmr. nothing to see your performance and improve.

                              The problem of putting the minimum cap to 20 games per hero is that you need to play 20*107 = 2140 games. Since Valve put MMR calibrating game cap to 10 I think its a decent number. I understand that the distribution could be skewed, but this would change anyway since players probably get better the more they play.

                              You have 83% winrate with sven with 6 games, but what will it be at 10? Maybe its 60% or something like it. Just because you have that hero over 60% doesnt mean you would stop play it. I dont stop play juggernut and im 34% on him

                              In my head juggernaut is a hero I need to improve, so I should practice him in normal gamemodes and eventually bring him into my repertoire in ranked mode. This would mean that my winrate would go up on the hero aswell as my MMR rating.

                              @pheonix: I don't think that your worse than a year ago. You have more games played, spread out on all the heroes and you have a nice winrate. For you to bring up that ench winrate or deathprophet winrate over 50% is a piece of cake.

                              Sure it take some time, but grinding gold in WoW does to.
