  • I found a malicious site that is offering "Rating-Boosting" - VALVE PLEASE READ

So, as the title already states, I found a site that offers "Dota 2 Rating" - apparently - according to them, they have "real professional dota 2 players" playing the accounts to achieve that rating.

[link removed by mod] <- this is the site, I highly recommend valve to ban everyone who participated in that, since it breaks steamrules, by doing accountsharing.

I also contacted their livechat, just to try to get some info about the players who will actually play the customer's accounts - and this is the answer I received:

    BoostingPro
Hi, how can I help You?
    12:28
    You
hello, who are the "top players" you're using to boost peoples rating in dota 2?
    12:29
    BoostingPro
professional players, that are members of real dota2 pro teams

    -----

I kept asking from different IPs and I got around the same answers everytime. Seems highly fishy and I really hope you guys will start banning such "boosting" services as soon as possible.
I don't want scrubs on my page 1 games, plox.

EDIT: all credit for finding goes to the poster of this reddit thread: http://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/commen...sting_hackers/

Sharing account with other users is already against ToS.

What do you want Valve to do about it? Call FBI and have that website shut down?

Do what they did with Dotabuff back then? enforce them somehow to put things down.

find out who the "professional players" are, give them a timed ban from competitive play.

valve will have some sort of way dealing with that - and you know, I already said it's against the steam ToS.

lets just put the minor fact aside, that this is against steam tos:

If you boost you mmr this way, you will lose it quit fast anyways since your mmr b4 the boost was lower.

(anyone that wants to test it, go ahead take a 5k mmr acc (as 2.5k player) and play on it. you will lose most of your games till you are ~2.5k again)
If you find spelling errors, you are free to take them.

No, DB doesn't get enforced by Valve, they just remove the all user stats exploit and.... DB still exists!

But probably you could use some heavy duty cease and desist stuff...

          SUPER EDIT:

Valve finally let the players participate in DotA 2 ranked games. Game developers added Match Making, based on player’s MMR (MatchMaking Rating), which allows players to compete in DotA 2 ranked games and play versus skilled rivals and teammates, which will be completely concentrated on the game, because for each win they will get rating points, that’s why player’s rating shows how good the player understands the game and how good he is at winning.

          Why order Rating Boost?
Do you feel you’re playing on the rating lower than you deserver? You meet weak and unexperienced DotA 2 players or just trolls who leave the game so you lose and your rating goes down? Or you just don’t have enough time to farm rating needed to play with skilled players? Our professionals (including top players of LAN level) will help you to get rid of low rating and get your account up to 6000+ rating in solo queue.

Why should you order Rating Boost from us?

We guarantee 100% safety and security of your account details.
          Fastest service ever.
You can pick any lane and desired heroes, which will be used to powerlevel your rating. We will try to follow the instructions, but you have to understand that sometimes the situation doesn’t allow to pick particular character.
You can use any payment method you like.
And well, we’re actually the only professional boosting service that offers DotA 2 rated boosting =)

Things you need to know about DotA 2 rated games:

To participate in DotA 2 ranked game you need to play at least 150 normal matches.
Rated games are available only for the following modes: All-Pick mode, Captain’s Mode and Captain’s Draft.
Players with matchmaking low priority can’t play rated games.
Normal games don’t affect your rating in ranked games.
Your rating is visible only to you and your friends in DotA 2 profile.
To determine your initial level you will need to play 10 rated games.
HYPER EDIT: You current Rating: 1000 Desired Rating: 6000 Price: 2145 $ Buy Now

ULTRA EDIT: I'm gonna try that service (ish, not paying) using my unused smurf account

Ah yeh and towards your Dotabuff example: Valve closed a non wanted way that dotabuff used to get data.

We had this whole shitstorm already so no need to bring it up again.

I guess the community would not shitstorm over a thing that they do not want.

the DBR was demanded and the community liked it, at least the vast majority of it.

there's a huge difference in shutting down something liked by the community who didn't intend to harm anyone and some fishy boosting service, that tries to net customers by offering rating achieved on their accounts by pros.

I think LoL have some way of reporting suspicious accounts when you think that they are boosted, even if they don't have mby we need some way of reporting account that we think that is boosted and sold or even just boosted with bot games, abusing system..etc

I'm pretty sure you can report suspicious accounts via their steam profiles. There's 2 problems:

1: IDK if valve is doing anything about the reports. I hope they do, because this issue rapidly becoming a real problem.
2: You can't actually report private profiles, unless the report button is hidden in some place that I've never noticed.

Next Step: revealing websites that teach players how to use afk-farm scripts and use Spectator's interface in a normal game (health bars on the upper UI and global item purchase notifications) while avoiding VAC. Yes, these websites exist.

From what I've heard, there's way more info provided by the server.. so in theory there are hacks which show torrents / sunstrikes etc on the map, even if Kunkka or Invoker aren't on your team.
                      And much, much more.

But to come back to that topic, we really need a way to contact some people who are trusted - basically like GMs in WoW - who can take a look at suspicious accounts and can maybe check somehow if third party-programs are in use by the suspected account.

I don't know in how far that would be possible to do for valve, but it would be a step into the right direction. It should as well strictly only apply to checking suspicious accounts - itemtheft etc. is a different section.

PM the mods - they'll contact the devs for you.. If you don't trust mods, then you can try PMing Chairraider. He's a core tester so he's directly involved in the game development and should have more power to do something about it.

that is correct, and it should be like that but the problem is that this player will tend to ruin too many games on his way back to 2.5k again.
and now take into account that there are enough of this guys, which is the reason why Matchmaking is sometimes unbearable.

tbh i think that DBR was actually more accurate than MMR is. and instead of shutting it down Valve should have make a cooperation with them

LMAO what people dont understand is that rating is just a visualization of your winrate. Means pretty close to nothing. Of course there is a huge difference between someone with 3k rating and someone with 6 but other than that, it does not mean much. Dotabuff tried to create an elo system that was (i assume) quite close to valve's secret one. That elo you get from your unranked games which actually counts your performance and not just a win/lose.

on topic: i seriously doubt anyone would use that site. Assuming an account that played only bot games for the first 13 levels would have a rating of around 3k and they ask for 150USD for 3000->3500. naaaah. Just to mention, there is a well known guy that used to be selling high winrate accs and finally decided to start playing on his own acc few months ago.
