  • MMR Boosting

Not sure if this is the right place, so sorry if not.

I just ran into two players boosting MMR. I don't know if I should be posting their Steam ID's and such, so I'll hold off for now. It was early morning (USE) Captain's Mode. Two people solo queued, and one ended up on each team. The one on the other team immediately picked captain and picked a draft that was clearly an intentional loss. He proceeded to feed and such. The game ended in 15 minutes.

The next game was the same deal, but the guy on the other team didn't get captain. The whole team on the opposing side was yelling in all chat that those two were boosting MMR, and it made sense. One of the innocent members of the other team even took an abandon so it wouldn't count.

Looking at the booster's DOTABUFF profile makes it brutally obvious. It's a smurf account with a total of 100 games played and 78% win rate. Looking through the games, there's always that one guy feeding on the other team.

I find it disgusting that people are this desperate for the pride that MMR brings to them in this game. How can this even happen? What can be done about it? How do we report it?

I can provide their Steam ID's if it is useful.

Report them on steam, post it in the 100 other threads complaining about it. I hope something is done, because it's really getting out of control.. Valve has already semi-nuked one method of "stacking" in solo queue, so I hope that the problem is lessened.

As long as Valve continues to allow cheating we will continue to see stuff like this:

Fail of note begins around 3:07.

Players that play like they are babies in professional matches, and making moronic and childish cosmetics and getting money from it.
Valve continues to pollute the game and it is clear they don't care about the quality of the game, it is a sad situation.
I will mercilessly add to my ignore list anyone that makes an incredibly annoying signature.

It's exposure of Valve's corruption which might be incentive for them to actually 'clean house' so Sunsfan and Reaves don't have to embarrass them again on such a grand scale.

Thank you pest for posting this as well. I am the one who got the abandon and exposed these cheaters. I appreciate you taking the time to post this as well. As more evidence I have snapshots of the games in question. In the second game you can see that they attempted to change their names to avoid being caught. Please help fix this problem that is plaguing dota 2. I am in low priority and lost a huge amount of points today because of these scumbags. Thank you again pest.

This thread has nothing to do with your dumb conspiracy theories.

The only thing I agree with is the CM set. It's even worse than alpine ursa imo.

As for "players that play like babies in professional matches", I'd just say you're putting pro gaming in a pedestal and you're possibly one of those players that report someone after they get killed in a first minute gank against 3 enemies with stunlock potential because "not pro enough on pubs that lead nowhere!"

I think Valve is hypocritical occasionally; for example, you get achievements in TF2 for action taunting your opponents in killcam but verbally taunting opponents in DotA 2 is "communication abuse." But I don't see how that clip illustrates this. It was just a bad play from ixmike88; even pros make bad plays.
We need a player review system like Overwatch for DotA 2. Get real people to judge communication abuse, intentional skill abuse, and intentional feeding.

So in other words, you think players are supposed to be immature? Noted.

He's always been bad and furthermore he isn't on the team anymore. He doesn't have what it takes so he flunked out and meanwhile Valve gave him a bonus check for having an awesome mustache by authorizing the cosmetic set in his name.

He didn't do good work, yet he got paid. This is an example of favoritism.
