  • 2 Abandons and LPQ?!?

Internet goes shoddy twice in one week and I'm in LPQ. Before this, I have probably 3 abandons for the past year. Does two in one week seriously get you to LPQ where you have to waste 2-4+ hours in all random shit matches? I haven't been forced into LPQ for years, is the criteria for being put here known? It seems to be horse shit, with all due respect.

How is 2 abandons in one week resulting in low priority "horseshit"? Let's assume you played 100 games in this week (I don't think so, but let's be "fair" here). That means you had a 2% abandon rate in this time. If this was acceptable and everyone had an abandon rate of 2%, ~16% of all games would have an abandon. 1 out of 5 games is over simply due to abandons if this was acceptable. However, I don't even think you played 100 games. At 50 games your abandon rate was 4%. If everyone had an abandon rate of 4%, ~27% of all games would have an abandon.
I know that it's bad that your internet went out and you didn't want to quit, but if you accept a higher value, TONS of games will be ruined.

EDIT: And as always: http://dev.dota2.com/showthread.php?t=23692 (as linked in the forum rules) in case you have ideas on what to change.

This is a video game, people should be allowed to put it down and walk away whenever they want. Before MOBA games were even invented people still used to stay and fight on if they thought a comeback was attainable. The fact is, most people abandon Dota games regardless of punishment because the comeback mechanics are crap. If u get ahead in kills, you get ur items faster which makes it easier for you to kill again and start smashing down towers. All the while, the enemy loses so much gold that items become unobtainable and its extremely difficult for them to catch up if at all. They just get beaten to a pulp over and over. No one wants that. Dota is just badly designed in general. If a new Warcraft 4 RTS game was released tomorrow, I would not hesitate to leave Dota behind for the next foreseeable 5 years.
