  • Quitting Dota

The point of a game is to have fun. That's the reason we all play games. Do have fun and break away from reality a little.
I used to love this game and be content with my 50-50 win-lose radio, which was the norm.

But lately the game has been getting harder and harder, due to the screwed up unfair team matchmaking system. I used to be near 3300 mmr and lately slowly plummeting to 2900. It just makes no sense how this system pairs you up with people who dont seem to know the game at the same level as you.
Trying your hardest and seeing your teams mates going 0 11, is unbearable. Add to that how terrible the community is and its a recipe for a bad time.

I can see why valve would make the game harder, but I just dont see why I would keep spending my time, money and energy, on a game which was supposed to just make me have a good time.

I think valve had a good thing going at start, but they got greedy and now they are slowly pushing away their customers with this aggressive tactic. No wonder league of legends has so much more players. Dota is getting harder and harder.

We are here to have fun. We are not all here to become Dota champions.

Hope things change in future updates. Anyone else feels this way?

I'm level 143, with almost 1900 hours, 98 friendly comments, 28 forgiving, 27 teaching, 42 leadership. I've completed the all hero challenge twice.

It's fair to say I'm not new to the game. Learning to play isn't the problem. The completely screwed up matchmaking is.

Completely, completely unfair. Am I really the only one who feels this way?

        Doesn't matter

It's fair to say I'm not new to the game.
Yes you are. 1900 hours is nothing

Just because someone has 0 11 doesn't mean that he is bad or that he isn't where he belongs. Please stop looking at allies k d ratio to determine if they are as good as you.

Dota is a rollercoaster, it has its highs and lows but it is a good game at it's core. I don't think valve is plotting but they consider dota 2 a fairly finished and they just don't seem to care much for improving it.

If you drop a lot of points, it's your fault, guys you are matched with ain't gonna get any better if you worry about their mistakes, you just have do your best no matter what.

Playing quality single player games would be my recommendation, if you ask me the current meta could use some spice anyway, so just take a break and play "some" pillars of eternity.

Yea, things are pretty shitty nowadays. I attribute that to smurf accounts invasion and shitty calibration system. I don't mention the MMR system cuz how it works is pretty dumb (win +, lose -), and it's working the same way since ever.

Don't fool yourself. As someone that fluctuates from 4 to 2.8MMR, I can attest game quality is the same at any level. The higher you go, the most likely you will find bought accounts and account boosters.

So the solution is, try to play less, don't take it too seriously, and don't buy neither Dota 2, Steam nor Valve shit. Hopefully, Valve will eventually get the message and put some effort in actually improving the game, not just cosmetics.

Smurfs ruined the game, I have a friend that has over 2.5k games on one acc and his mmr was 1.3k, he created a smurf and suddently he was 4.2k, sure now after 2 months he is 2k again and still dropping, but something is wrong with calibrating system, note that this prooves that every1 has the mmr that deserves after sometime, but deal with this massive smurfs calibrating relative high is big a problem. I usually have to try my best and yell at all my games if I really want to win.

Nothing is wrong with the Calibrating system, humanity itself is the problem majory of the current community cant use logic 1x false move in a teammatch, is the same as killing your buddy in an army, yet army does it better(using logic), since it's a matter of life and death? Now ask yourself in order to use 100% logic you need to be at the edge of your life spend or what? Lol is about braindead button spamming, plain and simple dota isnt... Step up your brain a bit pls... 12/0 won today

Is it still possible to play Zeus, spam ult and get high calibration?

I started at 2500ish and now I'm hanging around 3300-3400 playing support. I went up as I learned what supports to pick, what items to build, and how to have an impact without needed to steal farm from my carries. Yes there are games that a poorly matched, but that's why you leave feedback in the thread.

Amount of time you have played is irrelevant.
I've seen players with over 2000 games, with less than 2k mmr.

the core of the problem is steam account and dota2 being completely free,
therefore many smurfs / acc buyers / etc ruin the matchmaking process.

unfortunately, valve made more money this way so its unlikely will be changed.

                            its like a devil's loop.
one affect another one without ending.

This game is complete and utter shit and has been for some time now. I quit playing 6 months ago; it was the best thing I ever did, and I encourage you all to do the same. It used to be quite easy to find quality matches in dota that were really fun to play up until about a year ago when the hoards of petulant Peruvian sub-human apes started marauding US servers en masse. It would be so easy to fix this game, but for whatever reason Valve just refuses to do anything about it. I often wonder what the fuck the point of having us rate match quality is. I'm 4.5k mmr and I don't remember ever rating a single match more than 1 star around the time I stopped playing.

I would consider coming back if they got rid of bounty runes, stopped buffing heroes in the most inane and retarded ways (shrapnel charges hello?), and stopped focusing on stupid hat events like year beast. They should also just get rid of ranked matchmaking and mmr altogether, but I know that won't ever happen. Most importantly this fucking game needs to be region locked so bad. It's not even a matter of not speaking the same language, I love playing with Chinese and SEA players on USW because they are actually good at the game and don't throw petty temper tantrums on their mics while running around the map randomly pressing buttons hoping it works like South Americans and Russians do.

                              Look at these stats: http://steamspy.com/country/US
9th most played game on Steam in the US, while it is #1 in Peru. Nobody in North America wants to play this fucking game when its plagued by the most disgusting people on earth aka account buying Peruvians.

I think I might look into whether or not Peruvians have infested Warcraft 3 dota servers and just go back to that if they haven't.
