  • Dota 2 getting ported to Vulkan ?

i was looking into dx12 and vulkan when i came across some stuff on the web basically suggesting they're working hard with valve and they had dota 2 imported to vulkan for demo purposes.
    so is it true ?

Why not Klingon? Or better yet! Elvish! (I know I know :P you dont mean that, I just couldnt help it)
Make a NON automated report system.
I would rather wait 10 minutes for a balanced, fun and exciting match that will last 1+ hours. Than wait 10 seconds for a poorly balanced crapmatch that will end in 30- minutes
Valve, How I'm I supposed to respect certain boundaries to prevent a mute if I dont know them because they are different for each and every person on each and every game I play?
The only type of player that dislikes having his stats public are the players that suck and cheaters

Well it might replace OpenGL or not, but it will be interesting to test.

Although at this point I dont think they would do it for DotA 2. Vulkan is very new and as far as I know it still needs to prove its worth. If it indeed replaces OpenGL it would be an smart move from Valve to port DotA2. But I dont think Vulkan is at that competitive/worth stage yet.

This is why we did not get Source 2 before April - Valve wants to push the release with Vulkan support.
Also, Vulkan is just an evolution of OPENGL fused with AMD's Mantle, not something build from scratch. It is production ready, just like DX12 is production ready, but since both are competing technologies, most likely will be launched at the same date.
There are a few DX12 games rumored to launch mid-summer, so Source 2 should launch around that time - who knows, maybe after TI5 finals, in the all-stars game.

according to multiple sources around the world-wide-web source engine 2.0 will be shipped with the new API (vulkan).
            *vulkan is openGL but improved.

Yes, Dota 2 will be eventually ported to Vulkan. (Well, technically it already is - just not available as a public build), but seriously - I wouldn't call Vulkan ready by any means yet, Valve said at GDC (a few months ago) that not even the specifications for Vulkan are yet ready - add the actual development and bugfixing + optimization to that and you'll quickly realize that Valve won't push Vulkan alongside with Source 2's first public release.
