We all know there's a tragic problem in the game thats definitely holding the community back in many ways more than one. If you looked at my posts two years ago or three, you'll notice I am 4k mmr and complaining (read: bitching) about the low priority system.

Today, I am 5k on two accounts and 4k on my "test shit out smurf." As you can tell, it is hard to increase in MMR if every 20-40 games you are being sent to low priority in a toxic pool of ranked MMR players, and this is over a period of 2-3 years which is a very small increase, and it'd be much faster for all players I believe if low priority wasn't such an issue. I understand I am at the top 1% of the dota 2 community, but it doesn't get better up there either. It's also much quicker to get back into low priority the next few games once you are out of it, and if you have a bad enough game in ranked, the answer is "to report xx."

We already know there is a huge problem on us east/west with other players of other countries mass queueing on it. We already know there is a problem with the language preference not actually working, which leads to a lot of toxic behavior and reports because of people refusing to cooperate with each other or communicate. Or if they do communicate at all, it's with words meant to injure and derail the team as opposed to cooperate.

In this post I want to address a few concepts I believe the low priority system should possibly consider and maybe address.

    1. Having a conduct summary is fantastic. I love it. But I believe with greater transparency such as knowing who reported you and why, players will be able to make educated decisions on how to further reduce (read: how to subdue/attempt to assuage a teammate into not reporting them).

    2. While having a report feature/system is fantastic, reports are rather blind in the sense that given enough reports, although it may be false or a player may be irritated and reporting out of having a bad game or taking a last hit, it can force a player who may not deserve it into low priority. This is especially true with the current influx of a large majority of spanish/portuguese speakers with crude/little english playing on us east/west servers. If you miss a skill resulting in your teammates deaths on accident, it is not unheard of to be ganged on by 3-4 of your teammates who are all agreeing to report you.

    3. I think the last point I'm trying to make is that on top of knowing who reported you, and why, I think having a "quality" check in the system to acknowledge whether the reports are genuine or just simply out of rage/bad game would be extremely beneficial. I don't know about you guys, but I haven't seen someone intentionally feed/courier feed in years, but I'm sure on the daily people are reporting people of it although they aren't guilty of it. By all means, if someone is feeding/intentionally using their abilities to your detriment (aka tiny tossing you into enemies) or anything similar, they should be sent to low priority THE NEXT GAME. Immediately. Having a blind system that takes a buildup of reports that could be false or not, as opposed to having a more refined system that actually punishes based on being an actual teamkiller/feeder... well, I know which one I would certainly prefer as it helps align players to win and focus on the goal of winning, knowing if they did ANYTHING to throw the game it would cause them to be punished. How valve could implement this is up to speculation. Perhaps there could be a system where players can watch every time the player dies and determine if hes intentionally doing so, maybe it could be automated and determine he's dying as soon as he revives. Or maybe for the ability abuse, to choose which if any abilities are being abused and to include a time stamp (ensuring they report as soon as it happens) as opposed to reporting at the end of game or whenever their just angry.

I think it's about time we all start looking towards how to make dota 2 better as a community instead of determining how best to undermine our teammates we are matched with and aligning our goals on a similar focus: to win and have fun. I'd love to hear responses and theories/ideas on how to improve low priority and dota as a whole, and I'm sorry if my wall of text is a bit garbled, as I tried to throw in my ideas in as few amount of words as possible so it can reach the most people.

I read your first two paragraphs. Since people kept "bitching", as you worded yourself, about low priority, I started ruining games. I do not make additional accounts, I just ruin on my main. I got into low priority around 5 or 6 times in total. Even if I started ruining right off the bat after I got out, I never got back in instantly. The lowest I could go was 4 normal ranked games before going back to the dumpster for fucking on kids in my team. Additionally, when I stopped doing this(actually, I still ruin games if I feel like we lost anyway), <3 reports.

What a huge load of crap. You are either a flower, or you are part of a certain type of players, that happen to be all located near the far east side of the European continent. For this certain type of players, Dota 2 is a game of us, cyka speakers, vs. them - everybody else. So cyka reporting cyka will not happen often (and Valve will place cyka on the same team 99% at least on EU WEST).

OP - you don't seem like a flower, so I guess the system is working as intended.
      Troubleshooting crashes
Dota 2 Resources: autoexec.cfg reference / benchmark.cfg / Tweak it yourself (launch options, cvars) / useful batch files

I'm not sure I understand your post about being "like a flower." I'm not sure if suggesting that the system is working as intended is accurate. Are you suggesting valve is attempting to mold the playerbase into fitting one mannerism? And that anyone who may have an individualistic personality/opinion must be sent to low priority, thereby having the system "working as intended?" Dota 2 has a huge population. Not allowing players to have certain quirks or innovation will stop players from playing, and completely undermines my above post on greater transparency & a system that is more refined to punish actual abusers of dota by isolating the true abusers/courier feeders and therefore uniting the majority of players to a single cause... to wipe the enemy ancient, as opposed to allchatting "report xx took last hit!" or "report xx 16 min battlefury." Sorry if my 1st post didn't clarify on this.

I do happen to be near that certain Eastern part of Europe. I guess that's why I don't dwell in low priority all the time if I actually play the game as it is supposed to be played? I guess this is some sort of privilege we have here. I wasn't aware before, thanks.

Yes, the system caters to autism/butthurt/jealousy/malevolence - that's the "new player" from GabeN's vision - and just like his predecessors that tried to change mankind to their own image (Hitler/Stalin/Pol Pot/etc) it will eventually fail. Every oppressive regime has always employed this exact same "report" system - I won't get into more details but it's about controlling large population trough complicity of a few.

J2Krauser - yes, consider yourself fortunate. That's what I like the most about slavs - never giving up, banding together, and knowing their priorities - first flame enemies, then your teammates. But that means games are rarely fair matchmaking wise, since Valve places you in the same team most of the time, vs a bunch of unorganized, pitiful european autists, too busy to flame each other for every little thing. Hypocritical, reverse racism bullshit - that's how matchmaking really is.
