Based on experience and experimentation I can firmly say that the higher the skill bracket the less is the chance to get high skill players in your team. (Real high skill players). Specially in VHS, there are WAY TOO MUCH players who doesn't deserve their skill bracket or mmr, thus making the matchmaking unfair, the chance to get a 50-50 winning chance for both teams is very little.
(This number may not be accurate for everyone, but for me and lots of people who collaborated with me, they are): around 75% of games are not balanced AT ALL. Example: A party of 3 in a VHS game (or 4k+ game) playing with a friend who is around 3k (normal-high skill bracket) will automatically create a disadvantage to their team, in 90% of the cases, they will lose because of that teammate.
This also applies to normal skill brackets, where players of 2-3k party up with 4-5k players and UNFAIRLY stomp the enemy team, also creating a disadvantage and unbalance to the game.
Also, not only parties, but solo players who should be placed in normal skill games, are placed in high skill games for some reason, and so for high skill players in vhs games, and that's not how it should work, skill brackets exist for something, otherwise it would mean that mmr and skill brackets are bullshit (Actually many people believe it IS because of this reason).
How I personally experimented with this issue?
My real mmr fluctuates between 3.6 to 3.8.
I created a 2k account on purpose and then created another account and tried to calibrate at 4k, which I did EASILY. That's the root of the problem, it is TOO EASY to calibrate at 4k in a smurf even if you don't deserve 4k mmr. This problem affects ALL the community.
I don't really believe this will make a change in the skill-mmr system but I'd like to point out my experiences with all of the community reading this thread.
If there is a possible improvement to this, then it should be implemented, because this issue is making people's gaming experience worse and worse and a game is supposed to entertain you, not to stress you.
Thanks for reading if you did. My purpose is not to offend anyone or rage against valve and dota 2, it's just to point out a community problem.
