  • Skill (And MMR) matchmaking issue (May not be 100% accurate)

Based on experience and experimentation I can firmly say that the higher the skill bracket the less is the chance to get high skill players in your team. (Real high skill players). Specially in VHS, there are WAY TOO MUCH players who doesn't deserve their skill bracket or mmr, thus making the matchmaking unfair, the chance to get a 50-50 winning chance for both teams is very little.

(This number may not be accurate for everyone, but for me and lots of people who collaborated with me, they are): around 75% of games are not balanced AT ALL. Example: A party of 3 in a VHS game (or 4k+ game) playing with a friend who is around 3k (normal-high skill bracket) will automatically create a disadvantage to their team, in 90% of the cases, they will lose because of that teammate.

This also applies to normal skill brackets, where players of 2-3k party up with 4-5k players and UNFAIRLY stomp the enemy team, also creating a disadvantage and unbalance to the game.

Also, not only parties, but solo players who should be placed in normal skill games, are placed in high skill games for some reason, and so for high skill players in vhs games, and that's not how it should work, skill brackets exist for something, otherwise it would mean that mmr and skill brackets are bullshit (Actually many people believe it IS because of this reason).

How I personally experimented with this issue?

My real mmr fluctuates between 3.6 to 3.8.
I created a 2k account on purpose and then created another account and tried to calibrate at 4k, which I did EASILY. That's the root of the problem, it is TOO EASY to calibrate at 4k in a smurf even if you don't deserve 4k mmr. This problem affects ALL the community.

I don't really believe this will make a change in the skill-mmr system but I'd like to point out my experiences with all of the community reading this thread.
If there is a possible improvement to this, then it should be implemented, because this issue is making people's gaming experience worse and worse and a game is supposed to entertain you, not to stress you.

Thanks for reading if you did. My purpose is not to offend anyone or rage against valve and dota 2, it's just to point out a community problem.

You waste your energy thinking about this kind of stuff... just improve yourself and 5k is easy (yes really easy, even with a bad team). If you can't reach 5k then your mmr is fine at 3.6-3.8k. Just accept that you suck and you will maybe open your mind to improve yourself. The system is fine.

There's a problem in your argument:
Did I EVER say that I wanted to go into 5k?
Did I ever say my teammates suck and I always lose?
You didn't get the point of my post, read again, think, and after you understand, you can argue.
Personaly I raised my mmr from 1k into 3.8 and I am JUST fine there, my mmr is not the issue in my post.
I experimented as a 3.7 avg mmr player, I smurfed at 2k and then smurfed at 4k, now, I'll explain to you with apples and pears: WHY AM I ABLE TO GO INTO 4K IF I DON'T DESERVE IT?
Get it now? I AM A 3.7K PLAYER, then, why am I able to calibrate at 4k in another account if I suck and I can't get to 4k? There is absolutely NO logic about it.
Again ---> read again and understand.

First of all, 300mmr is nothing. Second - the MMR system is bullshit. There's too much noise in the system for it to be anywhere near accurate: all carry teams, fighting for mid or carry position, players that play a certain hero well and play other heroes very bad, players that leave the game for unknown reasons, smurfs etc. There's a lot of luck involved. I've been calibrated at 4,2k, went to 3,1k and then jumped back to 4k in just a week or so. How did I do it? I spammed Tiny mid and negotiated with the scrubs to let me be mid. If they didn't, I'd just take all the farm with my huge last hit dmg and they'd go away or feed (mostly they go away). Mid position is, hands down, the best one to carry your incompetent team to victory. Once you snowball mid, it's easy to dictate the game. Of course, there are the times when you'll be killing the enemy team left and right but your team mates will feed like there's no tomorrow. In such cases you can't solo win the game or a win is highly unlikely.

The smurf system allow for an easy fall down.

If calibration was done based on winning only and took nothing else into account it would still be just as easy, because the actual skill difference between a 2k player and 4k player is not enough to offset the other variance based on picks, team dynamics (do you work well together), and a host of other things.

I have a friend who plays on two accounts one is his try hard acc 4k or so another was a troll acc 3k. He tried try harding is 3k acc to 4k, but got stuck mid way. This anecdotal evidence, but i think it makes a point somewhat.

If you want to clear the 3.8k barrier, just pick a useful team hero like Silencer that you can carry with and heavily impact team fights.

Take a look into the mirror! You think you are completely unfailable. With your limited knowledge, you think that you know more than someone who is very deep in the matter/an expert.

Last patch I raised from 2k into 3k spamming OD, very easy, but still boring, that's the only problem.
Anyway, the point in my original post was still not this, but let's just end the argue right here.
