Forum Rules

    Dear Dota2-team. What is the point of regions and languages?

    I pick europe servers and english language, yet in my team there are 4 *Aliens* who won't speak a word of english even when asked to. They were not even a party. This happens way too often, it needs to be stopped! The *Alien* community is really big and they have their own server and language and yet they choose european servers and english language, which they don't speak! From what I've read there are samekinda problems in US servers too.

    I would recommend that you make the language selection actually mean something! For example in the "Game is ready"-pop-up you could tell which languages were chosen by 100% of the players, if you accept the terms press ready, if not press cancel and change your language. Warn the players that if they accept the game and use wrong language even when asked to use the chosen one, there is a high possibility of getting reported for communication abuse which would lead to a mute.

    I voted "yes" but I want to make clear that servers should not be dedicated to languages.

    Servers would only verify that all players in the same team speak the same language. Not being able to communicate with the opponent team is a minor/negligible problem.
    People speaking only rare languages should play together.

    However, this language policy would create new problems:
    - What about people lying about the language(s) they actually speak? A new report could do, but could also be a source of abuse.
    - What about people who don't speak well the language?
    - What about players who do not communicate at all (they have been muted by Valve)?

      Good points. I agree with you that the opposing team's language is not that big of a deal. Choosing a language however doesn't force you to communicate, just do not communicate in any other language than the one that was listed.
