  • NORMAL vs. RANKED matchmaking

    In Dota 2, normal match is just a game where players play to gain victories. There is no value or number for competition.
    Ranked match is a competitive game where players play to gain victories and they have MMR as value or number for competition among each others.
    Ranked match is a competitive game but why the drafting of such competitive game isn't the same as competitive game in Dota 2 tournament?

    In a competitive game, there must be a leader to lead the team. Else, we rather say the team is bad in cooperation, communication, teamwork, etc. because others with lower MMR than captain should follow orders or at least listen/learn from captain's advises.
    Well, if they want be a captain, then be cooperative, be good, etc. to keep winning a game and gain higher MMR in order to be a captain.

    Normal Matchmaking - remain the same for all modes
    Ranked Matchmaking - Captains Mode only

    And how newbie players will play mmr then if they have 2-3 heroes in pull? But capitan pick for them something unplayeable. Cm its mode for teams who play in stack many times and have strategies for current game with pick what team training.

      Newbie players can have a very limited hero, maybe 3 or 2 or even 1 only. It is Captains Mode. Captain of the team can ask and they can have discussion about their drafting in the team-chat.
      Pointless to ALT-CLICK to suggest hero to teammates.
      That's why I said, "In a competitive game, there must be a leader to lead the team. Else, we rather say the team is bad in cooperation, communication, teamwork, etc. because others with lower MMR than captain should follow orders or at least listen/learn from captain's advises."

        What if capitan boosted? And he pick for u heroes and mute u all or u have muted him long time ago for any reason. What if team lose game, ppls will blame capitan always. I saw it long time ago. In every game who lose match team always blame capitan, it was many years ago, and they will report capitan always coz of he pick heroes for team. CM mode not for publick games (with dota 2 comunity) CM for ppls who play in team many games and this team traning many picks with global strategy on game.

          Bad idea ,"turn to pick" wasn't enough to ruin games, now you want only cm mode be available in mmr.Please stop.

            You said if the captain was a boosted-type captain.
            You stated a boosted captain could pick heroes and mute all of the teammates.
            You also said maybe that is a captain I muted him for long time ago for any reason.
            You asserted that peoples will blame captains always when team lose game.

            We already knew that MMR boosting service is widely spread and a lot of players are using boosting service to bump their MMR into the higher brackets. That's true. You may refer that as a problem but where is the developer's action to stop those MMR boosters? Stopping or reducing players from using MMR boosting service is something possible but the lazy developer didn't make any move. Ask ourselves back, there are hundred thousands of lazy players and newbies never force the developer to make a move as well (most players are making profits by using Valve properties only). Because the lazy developer still never go stricter with the account security, so the players are started to make their new business known as "Steam account sales" and you should feel by yourself such players who able to join Ranked games but very inexperience are normally account buyers (I saw in many Facebook groups where players keep selling accounts).

            There are many active Dota 2 players who trying to give ideas or suggestion or thoughts or opinions for Dota 2 improvements. The problem is, where is the cooperation of the staffs from Valve (developer of Dota 2)? Saying Dota 2 is a teamwork game or a game that requires high cooperation but the developer itself never shows any cooperation with peoples in their official Feedback forum (as stated by their official blog dev.dota2 is Dota 2 official feedback site). I had read so many thoughts and ideas by posters in this forum. But I cannot see any staff from the Dota 2 team willing to put his energy to continuously help us. Unlike the past time before "Closed-beta of Dota 2" was launched, there are a lot of moderators (IF's team people) worked for IceFrog in PlayDota.com and we always shared ideas and thoughts. Some might be funny ideas and some might be rude ideas. We keep posting and replying to each other. Some even argued about the heroes they understand the most so PD team can see what they can do to change or improve the heroes in Dota 1. To me, the managements of Dota 2 is very bad compared to the old Dota 1 which was led by IceFrog. If they can cooperate with players, then it's highly possible for them to stop or reduce the boosting problem.

            Talk about my mute on the captain? If I see my captain as a muted player, then I can undo the action (unmute). Simple?

            Peoples blaming the captain when team lose game. If they want to blame a captain with higher MMR than them, then just let them blame. I know what I was posting and I know a lot of my posts can be nonsense talks and useless at most times as people just read. But I still remember there is a post suggested to remove the report system and replace it with Artificial Intelligence judgement. In that post, I questioned Valve, "Why Valve needs the players' hands so much to make a report?". If I am a player who start Dota 2 in year 2017, do I eligible to judge you by using the report charges entrusted to me? Ask yourself, why Valve gave power to ineligible players to judge highly experiences players? If Dota 2 team has better experiences in improving their games than the players, then they should make an AI or system to judge us like how they created VAC system to judge fraud players. In Dota 2, they didn't do so. Ask them again, why?

            You might disagree with my view on Captains Mode only for Ranked games but I can see a lot of goodness if AP mode is removes from Ranked games. If you feel removal of AP mode is not good, please list them out with supports.

              What reason from cm, if u say to capitan what he will pick for u coz ur hero pull low. Its same as AP mode, but other player pick for u hero. For example picking phase CM mode... - u saying to capitan i play on naga, and he pick for u naga coz u cant play on other heroes. U can pick naga on ap mode. I not see different. Mb Only coz of bans heroes work 100 percent and waste more times for pick heroes. How u want comunicate with ppls who dont know english etc languages? When picking phase.
              On ap mode i just press click and pick hero for myself. Not all peoples know english etc. So they cant say to u what they can play on. Thats mean capitan pick for him something unplayable. And he will abandon game.

                If you want to say a player might doesn't know English and he can't communicate with the captain, then that is a same issue in AP if he cannot communicate with other teammates. So, I don't think bringing up "player doesn't know English" problem is something to focus first because if he doesn't know English, best is you say, he cannot read hero's skill information and description. What's the point?

                VALVE, PLEASE CREATE BACK DOTA HOSTING ROOM LIKE GARENA DURING DOTA-1 ERA WHERE SOLO PLAYERS MET UP EACH OTHERS FIRST BEFORE GAME STARTED IN, 5...4...3...2...1...!


                A lot of issues and complaints rose up by players were mainly focusing on solo matchmaking. If Dota 2 solo matchmaking can match the players into a "WAITING ROOM", then it will be better because players from different backgrounds can know each other first before they start their games, either 1-1-1-1-1, or 1-2-2, or 1-1-3 (form of group to be matched into the waiting room).
                After players are completed match up in the waiting room, they can click "START MATCH" as votes for majorities consent to start and the game will starts its countdown like old time, 5,4,3,2,1.
                If the majorities decided to start match but a player suddenly left during the countdown time, then the player who left will receive "abandon" penalty and -25 MMR. The game will considered as non-scored. With that, players no need to wait for 5 minutes or keep pausing and resuming or fight for pausing to wait for any player who always disconnected and etc.
                This waiting can be applied for players who playing as 5 or 5 players in a party. If 5 players in a party, normally the system will match them with another party of 5 players. So, 2 parties will be matched up and brought into a waiting room. Start match concept will be the same.

                  You make some valid points there, I've been saying the same thing for years, back before it was cool The regional room system was very good because it encouraged players to play together with the same people and to get to know each other.

                    But I think posting here is useless because the dev.team or Dota 2 team seems like inactive including the Valve staffs.

                    To start a game (not to find a matching game), all 10 players should be given a chance to know each other first. I'd read some complaints saying the system still match them with the players they already blocked/muted/ignored.

                    This is a different thing. Inside the waiting room, all the players will prepare themselves for the game.
                    If the waiting room is implemented, every single match doesn't need to has "first blood" in order to make it a valid match with all players connected.

                    But I guess, some people might think, if the "START MATCH" votes are imbalance, for example 5 players from Radiant and only 1 in Dire agree to go but the other 4 players in Dire still don't want to go, then the "START MATCH" votes can be divided into two polls; the Radiant and the Dire.

                    How the START MATCH voting will works?
                    1. START MATCH voting from both teams:
                      • Radiant: Requires majority of team members to click START MATCH and the team is marked as ready (each team member cannot click START MATCH if team slots are not full).
                      • Dire: Requires majority of team members to click START MATCH and the team is marked as ready (each team member cannot click START MATCH if team slots are not full).
                      • Note: A 30 seconds or 45 seconds countdown will runs if a team is ready to go. Why countdown is needed here? Because there is possibility where a team is ready but the opposite team deny to ready for a long period or spoiling the waiting time. Therefore, the countdown will determine whether the waiting room should maintained or disbanded for another waiting room matching. If either team already full and ready to go but the other team slots are not full yet, don't give the countdown to run.
                    2. When both teams are ready to go, the notification of "YOUR GAME IS READY" will appear or pop out.
                    3. Click ACCEPT and go or deny to get penalty like current system.


                    This way might sounds like turning matchmaking into a lobby game where players get to know each other before the lobby creator start the game. Well, to me lobby is a type of game where players invite each others but matchmaking are matched by regions.
