  • Separate the MMR brackets into 9

Leaderboards for every thousand of bracket. Make 9 leaderboards for Dota 2 (or 10). And my question is...
Why Valve don't make the MMR brackets climbing into something with achievements that can appear in the leaderboard?
Let's say, if a player calibrates his initial MMR at 3000+ and is climbing to 4000 MMR, then he receives an achievement after playing for a period of time in 4k bracket (his name appears in 4k bracket leaderboard when he is the top 100 of 4k players).

Since only 10k, 9k, 8k, or many high MMR keep appearing in leaderboard, a lot of high competitions probably appear between those high MMR players. But when the high MMR players came to join the lower MMR brackets, they going to destroy the competitions among the lower brackets players.

A lot of players will ask, "Why high MMR players don't just compete with their competitors in their bracket?". Remember a game called, "Clash of Clans"? It is an android game that provides the best seasonal ranking system I have ever seen in my life and that is how they do it. - You play in that bracket, then you live in that bracket or climb higher. There's no better reason for them to come down and disturb others because every thousand bracket will have their own objective to survive better in their bracket or climb higher for the top 100 in bracket achievement.

UPDATE FOR TITLE: Separate the MMR brackets into 11*

    Bump this thread.

Today, Dota 2 really need separated brackets for each 1000 range MMR because a lot of players in Dota 2 especially the higher or highest MMR players will face difficulty in matching with others due to their low quantities.
The shape of players who joining this ranked matchmaking can be represented by a ring-bell shape where population to the lowest or highest brackets is plunging while the population to the higher bracket at middle of MMR is increasing.
When the number of players to the highest bracket is plunging, there will be difficulty for the players with very high MMR to find their match or games because their population is much lower than the middle MMR players.
That's why, a lot of very high MMR players or very high skill players joining the middle MMR players aka. smurfing. But most players said MMR is just a number.
To make each of these brackets has MEANING, the developer should at least put an honor for the bracket so that the players will know what they are striving for.
For example, medal for each bracket as following:
    • 0001 - 0999 (compete among themselves and the top 100 will be listed on Leaderboard of Iron players)
    • 1000 - 1999 (compete among themselves and the top 100 will be listed on Leaderboard of Alloy players)
    • 2000 - 2999 (compete among themselves and the top 100 will be listed on Leaderboard of Copper players)
    • 3000 - 3999 (compete among themselves and the top 100 will be listed on Leaderboard of Bronze players)
    • 4000 - 4999 (compete among themselves and the top 100 will be listed on Leaderboard of Silver players)
    • 5000 - 5999 (compete among themselves and the top 100 will be listed on Leaderboard of Gold players)
    • 6000 - 6999 (compete among themselves and the top 100 will be listed on Leaderboard of Platinum players)
    • 7000 - 7999 (compete among themselves and the top 100 will be listed on Leaderboard of Titanium players)
    • 8000 - 8999 (compete among themselves and the top 100 will be listed on Leaderboard of Senior players)
    • 9000 - 9999 (compete among themselves and the top 100 will be listed on Leaderboard of Elite players)
    • 10000 - ∞ (compete among themselves and the top 100 will be listed on Leaderboard of Champion players)

If there is ZERO MEANING or ZERO HONOR to be given by the developer based on "Defense of the Ancients" name, then this MMR is absolutely mean nothing (as said by Dendi long time ago) and just numbers.

Good. Now you can see that. People will think as following:
If honor of top 100 for 4k bracket, then it will be all players with solo MMR from 4999 until 4900. The total number of players listed will be more than 100 (99.99% for sure more than 100 except for 9k and 10k brackets).
In Dota 2, the total number of unique players is approximately 12 millions+. But what about the total average of in-game players? We can see the total average of active in-game players is less than 1 million or in around 500k~600k+.
Change the current leaderboard to display players by CATEGORIZING them based on the honors given by Valve.

        For example:
        • If I click on South-east Asian region, then I will have extended options to choose which are the honors as mentioned above.
          ----- proceed to next...
        • Then, if I click on SILVER honor, then I will see drop-down options to choose from 4999 until 4900.
          ----- proceed to next...
        • Then, if I click on 4902, maybe there is no player with 4902 MMR or Valve can put a mark on 4902 if the value has 0 player (to avoid time wastage on clicking).
        • Then, if I click on 4920, maybe there are 2 players with 4920 MMR and I can view their Dota profiles.
        • Then, if I click on 4955, maybe there are 59 players with 4955 MMR and I can view their Dota profiles.

IMO, there is no need for players to hide their MMR anymore.
If they really want to strive for an ego, then let's show it to the public and Valve (developer) will give them the honors.
Without an honor, players probably will simply destroy or ruin a game when they feel triggered or uneasy with the game they are playing on.
I had wrote in a thread before to talk about the human egoism because human egoism is something inevitable, same as lust.
That is the reason why many players always want to show high number of kills because when you kill the game will announce (such as first blood) but if you assist the game never announce.

You play and win Dota 2 and your MMR is within X000 ~ X899, then your account name will receive an honor award by Valve but name unlisted on the leaderboard. DON'T WORRY! Keep it up!
You play and win Dota 2 and your MMR is within X900 ~ X999 or infinity, then account name will be displayed on the leaderboard with an honor given by Valve.

MY BIGGEST QUESTIONS TO VALVE ARE:
        1. Give players more opportunities (by opening 100 slots for every thousand bracket) to strive harder with an honor to walk into the leaderboard for others to see (affect all accounts)?
          -----OR
        2. Allow only particular players especially the high or very high MMR to walk into the leaderboard for others to see (affect very less players)?

If all players can feel their accounts are MEANINGFUL(holding an honor) while striving to become VALUABLE(top 100 with an honor), then at least it can reduce their desire to aim for the value only, which is the MMR because MMR is a number.
        >>That's why Valve must implement a new mechanic that is meaningful, which is the honors as mentioned above to make players of range X000 ~ X899 have feeling they are standing at the same level with each others and must go into another range of X900 ~ X999 or infinity.<<

PLEASE DON'T PUT MMR OR VALUABLE MECHANIC ONLY AS A THING TO STRIVE FOR as it separating players by making them to think they are standing on different levels! For example, player with 2000 MMR feels less professional than player with 2200 MMR. In real fact, they are in same bracket.

Clustering the players into 2 groups (X000~X899 and X900~X999/infinity) in every bracket is much better than letting them to keep striving for MMR only in their bracket.

Current MMR of X001, X002, X003, X004, X005, X006, and so on is part of mechanic that separating the players and makes them feel they are standing too far from each other too much.
